Depending on how things go, Patrick Mahomes could be matched against the 2 oldest and 2 of the all-time greatest NFL QBs in his next 2 games.  Think that sidebar might get beaten to death by the media?

Since yesterday was probably Antonio Gates' final game, it was fitting that his last catch was a TD thrown by Philip Rivers.

After watching both playoff games yesterday all four teams deserved to be in the hunt. I think Nola was the better team, but lost. After watching the Pats & KC I think Brady and his team played a great game. I think thats the first time I ever said that. I'm not sure if the Rams are ready for the big stage, we all know Brady will be..........I hope we get to watch a good game.......Just Sayin'

Truth is, I admired Brady's performance yesterday.  Again, he led an underdog team to victory in an extremely hostile environment -- just like he did here, much to my surprise and dismay:

It does not matter if one "roots" for or against Brady; either way, he certainly merits respect.

Besides, you have to love his sense of humor:

The Pats remind me of the 50's Yankees...It's OK to root against them, but it's dumb to bet against them.

I was all set to reintroduce a tradition I did once, for Super Bowl 44 in 2011. I baked some red beans and flattened a pork tenderloin and floured it to make a red bean burrito.

In order to find some regional favorites from LA and Boston, I looked up NECCO candies, and FOUND OUT THEY WERE GONE! A moment of silence, please. DAMN do I miss Mary Janes! What are the makers of gingerbread houses supposed to deck the halls with if there are no NECCO wafers?

Help me out. All I can think of is baking some beans in molasses and using them to make burritos, but I WANT TO EVOLVE! Those burritos were good, but I already did burritos!

Oh, come on. They're still really the Boston Patriots and they don't have lobster rolls in Boston. They have lobster  salad rolls.

Well, seafood restaurants in Boston do serve "real" lobster rolls.  I had one last fall.

I keep thinking this week that thank God the Eagles have never lost a playoff game that they likely would have won if not for a defender lining up in the neutral zone on what should have been the game-winning play. It would take a while to get over that.

Is there a less forgivable penalty than lining up in the neutral zone? Just look at the ball and make sure you're behind it!

Poor Chiefs fans. Poor Andy Reid.  I really wanted him to get his Super Bowl this year after the Eagles were knocked out.

Today is the day. Yesterday the local radio station (100.1) aired only songs from New England and LA bands. It wasn't a battle of the bands, and there was no voting, but it was fun. Somebody had a good idea. Maybe the same guy/gal who came up with the idea of a joint morning show with a KC sister station a few weeks back.

It looks like I am "out of step" with my home state of Pennsylvania and my 'adoptive' homes of Virginia and Texas ...

Because this year I am "rooting" for Brady and the Pats.

it seems to me that without some minimum threshold defining " no significant interest" this map is misleading

I can't think of the last time I cared this little about the Super Bowl.  At this point about the only thing I'm hoping for is competent officiating, but I'm not holding my breath.

I wonder how many public houses in New Orleans will have the game on.  I'm thinking that if they're in the majority it might not be by much.

I'm happy that Chicago's Matt Nagy was named Coach of the Year.  As a Bears fan for 45+ seasons I have reasons for optimism, but at the same time I'm absolutely terrified that the 2019 Bears will be the next version of the 2018 Jaguars.  At least the loss of Vic Fangio has been tempered by the hiring of Chuck Pagano.

Say what you want about Belicheat, Halas and Lombardi did not have to deal with free agency; Belicheat has dealt with a revolving door of talent.  And, he has won.  And won.  And won.  Amazing.  Love, no.  Respect, YES.
