That illustrates my point so very well.  Thank you.

BTW: please know that I have never "flagged" a post from a fellow RF'r.  And that - in one way or another - I enjoy each and every one of yours.

So, here's to Week 6!

Glad you enjoyed, thats one of my favorite roadfood-(somewhat)related clips ever.  It helps that I consider Trump to be the absolute-with-no-close-second worst president this country has ever had.

I never worry when someone flags one of my posts - after 15 years here (2003-2018), I am secure in what I am and what I am not.  That said, I dont see a flagged post in this thread so I am not sure why you brought that subject up

My expectation for week 6 is that a certain offensive lineman sized QB will not be able to go in week 7

Even though my view about our President is the polar opposite of yours, I still have to laugh at Stewart's calling him "Captain Comb-Over".  Further, I thought the whole bit was hilarious.  For comedy to be "good" it must contain elements of truth and Stewart's "bit" certainly did.  And that is also why I like Lewis Black, but laugh AT, not with the likes of Colbert.

Because nearly every one of your, passionate, heart-felt posts last year were "flagged".

Again, my view is the polar opposite.  To borrow from our President:  "We'll see"!

In any case we all should maintain a healthy sense of humor.

After all, it's only a game.  Let the mayhem ensue.

Not only that ...

Rejoice, for the Steelerare DEAD LAST in the AFC North!

Not only that, the SteelerZ have, thus far, scored the LEAST number of points in that Division!  And, they have allowed the MOST.

That acknowledged:

Could someone enter Goodell's bubble and tell him that "gladiator" and "politically correct" don't mix?

Would the owners please recruit Dr. Rice for Commissioner?  Only she has the "balls" necessary to straighten out this "cluster".

In the meantime, Goodell's "product" is unwatchable.

The most impressive team this year is in the AFC North

uhm, no, not my team......

The 2-2-1 Browns are just a play or three and a kicker away from being 5-0

The previously 1-31-0 Browns

amazing

my Bengals still have to play them twice.

Another bad loss.....I knew they'd lose when I saw they weren't getting a passrush nor were beating a bad steelers secondary. I knew we still wouldn't win when we pulled ahead late, saiD to the TV "left too much time on the clock"

Which the refs took advantage of with bad calls (pi on Kirkpatrick that wasn't pi) and non calls (illegal pick by hunter that sprang brown for the td).....with the end result that the better team once again had to beat two teams - with one wearing black and white stripes - and wasn't abe to handle them both.

Don't know why or how the steelers own the refs, only that they do, except when they play that team from boston. I guess kraft pays better than the rooneys.

Re: NFL Chatter...'18/'19 Superbowl 2018/10/19 05:27:33 (permalink)
Steelers don't own the refs.  Seems like fans always want to believe that their rival's team owns the refs, especially when their team comes out on the losing end.  Everyone thinks that the Patriots are favored with calls.  Vikings' fans think the Packers always get the calls that they don't (of course, they just ignore the Clay Matthews roughing call in Week 2 that eliminated an interception and totally changed the game) or that the Packers hold all of the time and that's what makes Rodgers so great. Typically, fans want to believe that it's good teams that get all of the calls, and of course they team never does.  Fact is, if you watch your team with the same discernment as you watch an opposing team, you'll find that plenty of calls on your team are missed as well, and that the other team has horrible calls on them (the TJ Watt foul when he barely grazed Matt Ryan's leg while falling forward immediately comes to mind- why would pro-Steelers refs make that call?) just as your team does.  I'm a Bears' fan, but a pretty even-keeled one.  The Bears have been both victimized and the beneficiary of bad calls this year.

By the way, Burfict is scum.  Clear and obvious what he tried to do to Brown.  But it's nothing new. Speaking of bad calls, no penalty called on him either.

And I can't stand the Steelers.  But how this piece of trash Burfict does this, what he did to Brown in 2016, stomping on Blount and Brady's legs, and the amount of times that he has targeted with his helmet (especially when a teammate has someone else wrapped up) is disgusting, as is when he's has gone at players knees, or when he gets a hold of someone's leg and gives it a good twist.  No one else in the league right now does things in the manner that he does- no one.  There's a good video out there that shows all of these hits.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1052305360558612480

Garbage like that should be out of the league- his actions are indefensible.  His intent is to harm other players, plain and simple.  It's not the media making him out to be the bad guy, either.  All anyone needs to do is watch the way he plays the game.

Frankly, I think the NFL should be levying fines on Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis for not dealing with Burfict. The sooner that piece of garbage is banned from the NFL the better.

Mike Brown has been an awful owner and GM for years.  The fact that he's kept Marvin Lewis for all of this time is proof of that.  Zero playoff wins in 7 appearances, including a run of 5 years making the playoffs without a win.

Not that it'll do any good, but the NFL fined Burfict another $112,000 for his illegal attacks last Sunday. So far now Burfict is the most heavily fined player in the NFL. This guy needs to be banned for life. And Bengals management needs to step up and get rid him.

No worries, bbqboy, KC is going to the Super Bowl this year

As far as all the demands that Burfict be permanently banned from the NFL:  I find it more than a little interesting that a certain team with a history of rampant thuggery - attacking folks in Las Vegas, multiple rapes, destroying a qbs knee, standing atop players on the ground taunting them, attacking a punter on the field, leading with the helmet so often that rules had to be added to stop them, etc etc etc - gets a free pass on such activities.  Its just boys being boys I guess as long as you are wearing the right uniform.  Frankly, if Burfict wore that uniform, the same folks attacking him now would be praising him as a tough, physical player

He may well be the most fined.  Havent looked it up,  Its a lot, tho, absolutely

However, as I said, certain players from a certain team are rarely if ever disciplined or fined for their far more frequent thuggish and/or dangerous behaviors

a free pass = no fines

as such, these thuggish players have no chance to be listed as most-fined

Meanwhile, Burfict gets fined for breathing, and even our normally brain-dead "GM" (who I am not defending, he's terrible) is up in arms about the uneven (to put it mildly) treatment

No worries for Burfict.

Even if the NFL fines him into bankruptcy he has a promising future as a Saudi hit-man.

They pay very well and presently have a number of openings.

And, clearly, he'd enjoy the work.
