Haven't seen it yet, but I sure as heck will try it. But, I'm not expecting anything truly hot. Yum Brands is also experimenting with this 'higher end' chicken joint which also offers a 'Nashville Hot Chicken'. Haven't tried it yet because it's near Al's #1 Italian Beef, but it's on my list. In any case I'd "settle" very happily with a mid-1980's Popeye's. Back then their "spicy" REALLY WAS !!! And so were their red beans & rice and their onion rings, too. Eating that meal (as I did many times) would generate a sweaty forehead. Wonderful stuff !!! These days I can drench their so-called spicy in Louisiana Hot Sauce and only approximate the original taste on those now miniscule pieces. I'm certain that KFC's offering will not be nearly as spicy as my (then) beloved Popeye's back when the late, great Al Copeland controlled everything.

mar52 And it does not look hot! Perhaps the next commercial will address that issue by featuring a sweaty, shirtless Col. Sanders. Would you prefer Darrell Hammond or Norm Macdonald?

Norm is awesome! I've had the tender meal and the breast one, and they're both really, really good. Not really hot, not even Nashville mild, but still way better than anything Popeye's or Church's does. I'd rather that over Bojangles even.

I will have to give it a try. Tonight I was torn. Went to Yard House for dinner. I love their halibut dinner. BUT... Nashville Hot Chicken was now on their menu. So I went to excess and ordered halibut for dinner and a Nashville Hot Chicken to go. I gave it a little taste when I got home. They should be fined for mislabeling. No way is what they are serving anywhere close to Nashville Hot Chicken except that they serve it with dill pickle chips. It's NOT hot. They serve a spicy dipping sauce with it but it's not hot either! But now I know. All in the name of experimenting.

First time wandering into this thread..... We were desperate one night and Mariton lives two minutes from a KFC, so we stopped in. And I tried the hot chicken. It was bad. Of course, I didn't expect it to be as good as Prince's or 400 Degrees, but even with a much lower bar, it was truly awful.

How so? There's a KFC just up the street from work so I suppose I'll check out the hot chicken sometime, but there's also a Popeyes just a little farther away and I'm more than satisfied with it when I need a spicy chicken fix.

No, it would not. The KFC spices are probably blended somewhere other than TN and anyway, chains don't count

Not necessarily. It's in the "Fast Food Franchises & Non-Roadfood Chains" forum and last I checked, KFC is a Fast Food Chain. Turn in your "Forum Monitor" Card

All this KFC talk, I went in a couple days ago and bought their 2 piece battered fish combo and twice this has happened now, it's served with several loose pieces of fried batter on my plate with the fish. Is this batter off my fish, or batter that was already in the fryer? They don't see it? Anyway I find it very off putting, and doubt I'll be back to even try their new chicken dish.

You just said it had to be from Nashville. Isn't chicken from a KFC in Nashville from Nashville? KFC doesn't do fish. Is this a KFC/Long John Silvers? If so, then yes the loose pieces of batter are supposed to be there. They've done that for years and can be seen on the menu pics on their website and are officially known as 'krums'.

Doggonit, dagnabit, cheese Louise! Heck, I'd settle for even just the heat that Popeye's used to have back in the '80's.

It never occurred to me there were people who didn't know, actually. That was my favourite part when I was a kid, when Long John Silver's was a treat. I really didn't like their fish at all, but I would eat a whole plate full of those crumbs!

Roz and I went to a newer KFC and tried their Nashville hot chicken. We requested thighs and chicken fingers fresh dropped. We had to wait a few minutes and it was worth it. The chicken was very juicy and covered with a sauce that was warm to start and got hotter by the minutes and the sweat endured for about a half hour. I wish we had got double slaw to mellow the tang but we each got slaw and mash potatoes with a biscuit. Apparently they pour the sauce over the chicken and it sorta filled with plate with the hot oily sauce which you could dip your biscuit in. It was medium hot which I would compare with a jalapeno. Roz also enjoyed their hot chicken fingers. Since KFC imitated Nashville hot chicken which O'Charleys has done also, I wonder how long it will be until Captain D's starts Nashville hot fish? Paul E.
