I'm not so sure PMs can't be monitored.

Happy to address any issues if you send the PM's on to me.

Oh. not me. The guy who used to send them to me is either in prison or dead.

Oh I remember him...all too well. He threatened to visit you at some point didn't he? Did the same to me but never showed up. Maybe he got sent back to prison for such activities.

Dale,

That would be because you sent me a PM telling me not to attend any more spring crawls and warning that you'd make me uncomfortable if I did.

I will quote the PM here (and the complete background story) later when I am on my PC.

And now, the rest of the story.

In response to me posting this thread in December, rather than an apology or some contrition from the author of the offensive PM, I received another PM with an accusatory rant that ended with the following statement.

Me no want wear big boy pants
I assume you're going to avoid the future spring trips . Unless you can provide some sort of meaningful dialogue of (sic) discussion here for some sought (sic) of discussion instead of publicizing it on the forums  then it's obviously going to be uncomfortable for the both uf.s (sic)

He'll get no dialogue or discussion with me. I am done trying to get along with this person. Conflict avoided.

In addition, after our lousy experiences at the Cinci and Chicago crawls we'd vowed not to go to another "spring trip." We skipped going to Pittsburgh, but immediately committed to Kansas City based on our high regard for Buddy & Chris; and the PM author's numerous statements that he was not attending (e.g., see immediately below). Conflict avoided.

My want my bottle
Even though we won't be attending next year, I'm going to be selfish and say St. Louis since we'll be in Kansas City, Milwaukee and Minneapolis in the Fall of 2017.

I also decided that RoadFood.com is way more important to the PM'er than it is to me, so I have avoided viewing his threads and commenting in his threads. I have gone even further and have avoided viewing other threads where I suspect he will be active. For example, I have not even glanced at buffetbuster's My Year in Review - 2016. Conflict Avoided.

I recently purchased a non-refundable airline ticket to Kansas City at a cost of almost $500. Then last week, the PM'er begins his taunts.

Mommy, change my Pull-Ups(R)
Oh, I can't wait to attend this event- and especially pay my regards to one particular attendee

And another one this week.

I lost my pacifier
I'm honing in on the definitely in list- one specific person in particular.........Can't wait!!!

Enough.

I've left this guy alone for 2 months and he still won't give it up. Now he's publicly stating he will make my trip uncomfortable. I responded in the KC Crawl thread, but have withdrawn those posts as they are off topic.

As for the Kansas City Crawl, I am financially committed to go. So unless the PM'er pays my cancellation fee, I will be there.

I just cant understand the motivation behind this kind of behavior. You are one of the nicest and fun guys I know and so enjoy breaking bread with you when I can. Veiled threats are not acceptable and should not be tolerated on this or any other forum. I am sorry for your harassment.

Make sure that if you and Dale fight it's done in a regionally appropriate manner, or he will be offended.

I addressed this with Buddy. Missouri is James Brothers country. I think Remington Model 1875's at 10 paces is perfectly appropriate. 😉

Just so no one gets the wrong idea. I will not become violent in any way with the PM'er. I was just having some rhetorical fun here.

But I am very angry that a member of the RF forums believes he has veto power over where I can go and who I can associate with. We had discussed attending the KC Crawl at length and only committed to attend after receiving assurances from an organizer that the PM'er would not be attending.

The recent efforts to beg the PM'ers attendance were unknown to us and occured as we finally made a nonrefundable commitment to attend.

His efforts to intimidate me at the KC thread let me know he intends to FEX, I mean, flex his status to ruin our trip when we are there.

We just wanted a nice weekend away, together with our friends, and now it is ruined.

If anyone thinks I'm alone here, you might be blown away by the number of other Ralphie's I've received PM's from detailing the abuse they've received from our fellow RF member.

In the spirit of Spartacus:

I tried to pm you but your box is full.  I am sorry to hear that you and your family had a lousy time whilst you attended the Cincy crawl.   I tried to make the weekend as fulfilling as possible, I do admit to dropping the ball a bit in the planning and execution of the event.

My health had taken a turn for the worse, and was also dealing with the recent loss of my mother.  I admit my heart was not in it at that point in time, thankfully CTD and the spreadsheet saved the weekend for most.   I am TRULY sorry your experience here in the Queen city and NKY was lousy.

Donald -

No need to apologize!  You kicked things off and several of us picked it up.  Since I was actively involved in both Cinci and Chicago, perhaps it's all my fault.

With 20 - 30 folks at each, this is the first time I've heard someone not enjoying themselves.  With Roadfood, the internet, smart phones and computers, you can always make your own party, veer off from the group or become part of the organizing team.  Most crawls have a few lead folks who spend a lot of time visiting, coordinating, researching etc.

While I dislike hearing complaints about my efforts, especially 2-3 years later, You my friend Donald have NOTHING to be apologizing about.
