Persian Ice Cream in Pittsburgh??

Does anyone know of any place(s) in the Pittsburgh area that sell the saffron ice cream known as bastani in Persian (Farsi)?

My nephew loved it when I'd buy it here in Maryland and I'm looking to get him some up there the 'Burgh.

I searched online but came up with nothing.

Thanks!!!

I've never even heard of that before.  Good luck finding it, but Pittsburgh isn't exactly known to be on the cutting edge for this type of thing.

The best I could find...a riff recipe. Sound interesting. Plenty of scratch recipes online....if you have an ice cream maker.
    Persian Ice Cream
1 (1/2 gallon) container vanilla ice cream, let stand until soft
1 to 3 tablespoons rose water
1/4 teaspoon ground saffron, dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
1/4 cup slivered nonroasted and salted pistachio nuts
Mix all the ingredients. Place plastic wrap in bread pan. Spread the ice cream in the pan and cover with the wrap. Freeze for 1 hour or more. To serve, unwrap and make slices of ice cream in serving dishes

    Thanks BB.

Wintahaba, I saw that recipe in a Post Gazette link when I searched.

Labad's in the Strip District didn't have it, and neither did Amel's Restaurant, which I always liked but haven't been in many years.

Looks like I'll have probably have to bring it up from down here.  This stuff is either something you like a lot, or not at all.

I'd like that recipe for sure.

But...  I'd sprinkle more pistachios on the plastic wrap and then again on top of the ice cream before freezing.

We have Mashti Malone's here.  They have an online store but the link isn't working which may mean they don't ship anymore.  Might be worth a phone call.

This is what it looks like.  Some sell it with the chunks of fozen cream and some do not.

Below is what I usually buy (in a plastic container, and it has the chunks of cream) from Yasaman in Rockville, MD.

I've been in Pittsburgh for several times, but have never heard about Persian ice cream, sounds interesting though, since I've never tried it.
