Keep checking on the Food Recall thread, as I am posting daily recalls now on pistachios just like I posted daily recalls for the last two months on peanuts. So far, Private Selection (Kroger-associated stores), Planters (Kraft) and Fisher are the three major brands recalled, though I am sure there will be many more. On the pistachios, unlike with the peanuts, the FDA is pressing for the recall now, immediately
after Kraft discovered the Salmonella and hopefully before anyone gets sick and dies.
At this point, I would say to hold on to your pistachios and wait for further instructions, since with most recalls you can get your money back. Setton was the second-largest
pistachio producer in the U.S., so maybe Trader Joe's pistachios are not from them. The scary thing about the pistachio recall as opposed to the peanut recall, is that Kraft discovered several strains
of Salmonella in the pistachios, as opposed to one single strain
which infected the peanuts, so at this time the cause of the infecftion is unknown.
