Hopefully my health will be stable enough to attend this one and the fall tour in LA) (already checking on DaVita dialysis centers nearby)

How great would it be to tour Cajun Country with the one and only CajunKing!!!!

I could show you the house I lived in outside of Lafayette, but between Katrina and Rita it is LONG GONE!

You know Don, I was talking this morning with some friends at the -- WAIT FOR IT -- Waffle House about last year's crawl and sitting with you at Camp Washington as you told Lisa, Ed and me about the area and its history. Good stuff. So was the four-way.

Thanks!!

I know other people in Pittsburgh besides Roadfooders that would be happy to go there with me separately from the trip, so I'm not worried about getting there.

Oddly enough, it seems that Sandra's employer did magically grant her extra vacation time next year (she gets an extra week beginning next year.) She wants to visit her cousins who live in the Lancaster PA area therefore she does want to attend the Pittsburgh crawl, although she just wants to go one day and will most likely only consider eating at a quarter of the stops.  So it looks like her vote is for Pittsburgh too.

Now if someone will magically bequest me 25 million dollars....

And let's not forget the culture. There's the Immaculate Reception statue at the airport, and the bridges, and the abandoned steel mills, and, and the guy with the soup cans, and the flying saucer, and the Tony Dorsett sign, and . . .

Can someone help me out?

How can you forget Pittsburgh's greatest cultural icon?  He even has his own statue near Heinz Field.

Yesterday the Food Channel did a re-run of their 'Great American Steakhouses' program. One of the places included in their 'Top 10' was Pittsburg's Meat and Potatoes. The review was very positive and appealing. Will any of you locals care to either support or refute their description. How would it fit into a multi-stop agenda? Would it make a Keynote dinner stop location?  This is merely a suggestion based on the observation of the program. I have not been to the place before.

Really hoping it's not Canada. Would make a visit from Mike and the Canadians a trifle uncomfortable

One Pittsburgh place I've been fascinated with ever since running across it on Roadfood is Beto's.

You did and that's him.  I think your passing mention of "the guy with the soup cans" was a bit too off the cuff and subtle.  I didn't catch it until I went back and reread your post.

The Art Institute of Chicago did a Warhol retrospective a number of years back.  I know he's not everybody's fave, but if you appreciate Warhol's work, it was a fantastic show.  The $20 admission at the Pittsburgh gallery might be a little steep for some folks planning to attend this shindig, especially those who don't care for his art.  I'd give it serious consideration if we're looking for a non-food stop during the day.

While Warhol has a bridge named after him and even his own museum, I think the best artist to come from Pittsburgh is Mary Cassatt.

Buddy- The Warhol Museum was on my list of possible non-food options, but the price tag is steep.  Although, if that is what the group was interested in doing, no doubt a group rate could be obtained.  I do have some cheaper, interesting things in mind already.
