Hi all! Long time lurker first time poster.I live just north of the Quad Cities and try all these pizza places quite often.A few points I'd like to make.
Alas and I'm really sorry to say this but Frank's Pizza has really gone down in quality. The wife and I went to the Silvis location in May and while the pizza was okay the service was terrible. And I have been going to that Frank's since the very early 80's.The Bettendorf Iowa Frank's has closed.
The wife and I tried Sports Fans pizza about a month ago and it was worst QC style pizza I have ever had.

The are few newer QC style places that have opened recently.Bad Boys on Utica Ridge Rd.
Fat Boys on Washington st off of Locust.

I've been meaning to get over to Rock Island and try Alfano's but can never seem to get there.Heard great things about their pizza.

Okay. Here is my got to list in no particular order.
Wise Guys-Davenport
Harris-Bettendorf
Pizza Shack (it's on NW BLVD by the Machine Shed restaurant in Davenport)
Clints-Moline
Uncle Bills-Two locations in Davenport
Poor Boys-Rock Island
Bad Boys-Davenport
Pizza and Subs-Rock Island
Fields Of Pizza-Two Moline locations

Haven't been to Sluggers or Huckleberry's in a long time. Not sure if the Pizza Joynt in Milan is still open either..Have never had Stashu's either but it's our next pizza outting.Another place is Vann's on Harrison St,haven't been there either.
We do get Happy Joe's every now and again for a change up.Can you tell I'm a pizza junky? lol.

Here's a few pics from our recent Franks visit.

Any questions feel free to ask.We love our QC style pizza!

Damn shame to hear that about Frank's - especially about the Bettendorf location closing - though I still feel obligated to try them since I grew up in the QC and didn't go there even once.

No way Fat Boy's is new - my dad was going there since at least the '70s! I'm sure Bad Boyz is new by comparison, though, since it's on Utica Ridge.

Harris was always a reliable fixture.  Clint's looks good based on the single photo of it that I found online.  We had an Uncle Bill's across the street from West High School in Davenport - though I never got around to going there.

Pizza Shack looks legit, judging by the photos on their Facebook page.

Pizza Joynt's latest Yelp review is last August, so I'm optimistic.

Yeah.I should have said Fat Boys isn't new,but had a momentary lapse.I haven't their pizza in probably 4 or 5 years.

To be honest Frank's Pizza was ok.But our server decided bs'ing with other customers really soured me.And we were there in the middle of the week and she wasn't busy at all and I'm the least demanding customer too.Used to be lines of people waiting to get into Frank's.

It's amazing to me how many QC-style places there always were that I didn't know about as a kid - and how many more there are today.  I'm glad to see that newer restaurants have chosen to duplicate the style and help make it a (slightly) bigger thing.  I have no illusions that it'll ever be nationally-known like New York or Chicago-style, but a tiny irrational part of me sort of likes that.

Going to try Fat Boys pizza in late August.  The Yelp page lists credit cards accepted but has no hours.

1. Happy Joe's is a wonderful regional pizza, but it's not QC-style.

Yesterday I spotted a Happy Joe's in Medford, WI, which makes me wonder about the size of the region.

Another, lesser known place that should be added to the list is Pizza Joynt in Milan, IL.  :)

It's been awhile since I've posted. I love pizza so much I decided to start a Quad City Pizza and More blog. Always on the lookout for pizza joints to visit. If this post is against the rules the mods can nuke it. I'm just doing this for the fun of it and in no way am I a pro.

Guess I can't link it,but obviously a google search and it's there.

We have a Happy Joe's here in Minot.  Lot of the local Air Force guys/gals go there.  Don't know why, but it seems a magnet.

That second pizza looks like a bad pizza from Dominos, just sliced differently. The first one looks ok!

"Midwest", I guess? I knew they weren't unique to Iowa by any means. You'll never, ever see one out on the East Coast, though - I guarantee you that.

No,Costco  is not real pizza at any  price. My God, it's made on a conveyor belt and broiled. While a good cheap lunch, it's,in this Italian's opinion not very good. Like the cheap lunch, like that it's better than many FAST FOOD pizza junk, but NEVER call it good pizza It's a good choice when shopping at Costco. I can tolerate it  when I need lunch there, but that's the nicest I can say about it! That said, I see you said you like it. I hope you like it for the reasons above and NOT that you think it's good pizza. If you think it's GOOD, all I can assume is you don't have REAL pizza in your area.

There aren't enough Italians in most areas of the country to follow Lee's dictum, and so I think Costco's pizza deal is great. As are the hot dogs, though I usually get a Polish instead.
:)
Not much in the way of Quad Cities style out here though. A business opportunity for someone !

"Being Italian" certainly isn't a requirement for recognizing good pizza. I'm just saying it isn't real Italian pizza. Now, I do realize there are places in the US where real pizza is hard to come by, but that would NEVER make fast food pizza real pizza by default.
