The PBS show Cook's Country gave QC pizza a brief shout-out in an episode from earlier this year.  It was mentioned as an example of regional pizza style, as Detroit pizza was being featured.

Interesting...wouldn't mind trying it. Only thing that turns me off is a thick sauce.

From what I learned, it's a much thinner Chicago pizza...toppings under cheese on top...Looks good...except as pointed out...thick sauce is a turn off for me! And of course, strips, not slices or squares!!

Thinner than Chicago pizza?  Did you know deep dish is thinner than your Sicilian pizza?

I've only had QC style pizza at Roots in Chicago and I didn't like it.  Would getting it in the QC be that much better?  I doubt it, but if anyone wants to convince me, please do.  And when it comes to sausage I prefer it with a lot of fennel versus a garlic sausage.

If you like fennel-y sausage then I think it'd be worth the drive west on I-88 (or US-20, if you're in no hurry) to check out the pizza for yourself.  And even if it doesn't quite measure up there are probably some interesting places to stop along the way.

Real Italian sausage is made with fennel. That's what makes it Italian sausage. Come East. Any real Italian pizza place will put REAL Italian sausage on a sausage pizza!!!! Any place!

That's one of the reasons I like the pizzas with sausage at the Mellow Mushroom chain. They use a nice fennel sausage that is tasty, unlike so many others that seem to use Jimmy Dean.

Jimmy Dean is breakfast sausage, not Italian sausage. If your pizzeria is using Jimmy Dean...A) your not in the NYC Metropolitan area.B) your not in a real Italian pizza establishment C) get out!!

I'm sure someone somewhere offers a biscuits & gravy pizza, in which case the JD sausage would be perfectly appropriate.  Although when I make B&G at home I prefer Bob Evans.

Chicago is the sausage capital of the US.  It's our number one topping by far and unlike many places in NY the majority of places here use bulk fennel sausage, not sliced from a link which is far less flavorful.
