While the recipe looks good, I can't help wondering what a guy from Bridgeport, Connecticut is doing making chili. Apizza, sure. But chili?

I think it was from his time spent boozing and chasing broads in Mexico, at least according to Bob Mitchum, the finest leading man Hollywood ever saw.

Looks good except for that infernal bay leaf. That turns it into spaghetti sauce. :)

The recipe doesn't mention, are you required to get "LOVE" and "HATE" tattooed across your knuckles before you can successfully make the chili?

At the time, Bob couldn't openly name the weed he put in his chili so he used bay leaf as a euphemism.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Night of the Hunter. Kentucky Theater, downtown Lexington. I was 12.

I sorta wonder if Mitchum's secret sauce he put in the chili was moonshine from Thunder Road?
