Sam's Pizza (Janesville, WI)
Janesville has 4 long-time pizza places and not quite 2 years ago I visited Jim's Pizzeria
, leaving 3 to go. Earlier this month I stopped at the "newest" (under original ownership since 1985) of the 4, Sam's
on Milton Avenue.
The interior isn't actually quite this bright. I was seated at the small table in the front window so I could look into the dining room or out at the traffic going by.
Half sausage, half pepperoni, all mushrooms and a very good pizza. The crust had a nice crispness, the sauce wasn't too sweet, the sausage had a nice fennel hint and there was a generous amount of cheese. Definitely worth ordering again.
Sam's also offers a stuffed pizza for those in the mood for something a bit heftier. It was good in its own right but I liked the flavor and ingredient balance of the thin crust pizza a little more.
Apparently back when the General Motors plant was open Sam's had several delivery drivers dedicated to just those deliveries. While those days may be over Sam's is still turning out good pizza.
