Seasonal Restaurant Advice

We have been a year round restaurant/bar in a south suburb of Minneapolis.  We are located right on a lake and are packed during the summer.  During the winter we just die and do not make money.  We are in a tight knit community and feel that it is our "duty" to the city and people to stay open for them.  Does this make sense?  What are our options for the winter?  Closing for a few months?  Opening only at night?  Only open certain days?  Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.  Are there any others that tried to close during slow season and it did not work for you?  How did you change it....Thank you

    Welcome Captain J.

What type of menu & what factors makes it seasonal?

Some of the best people to talk to (other than food people) are real estate agents that handle rentals. They usually have a very detailed vision as to trends past and what's to come. I guess harsh weather in the winter is a factor. It gets cold here but not like there.

Close Dec 24th  thru Feb 28th and or open only at night, and keep your hours short during the winter months. No sense in giving back everything you earned during the summer to stay open all winter.
