Done a tour of the Amsterdam canals, but never a six hour town. An amazing city, and the canal trip is photogenic!!

We go once a year. Coming up on our 20th anniversary visiting that gorgeous old town.

"The Amstel in Amsterdam doesn’t taste remotely like its North American brother."

    I certainly hope not.

Great tour (really neat architecture) but I have to ask...can you tube it?

Yeah, you could tube the canals, the water is exchanged daily so it's clean. You'd have to bring a tube with you and a paddle to move yourself along though

Heinekin in Amsterdam is so much better than the export brand. (I remember it in brown bottles.)When I took the canal trip, thety told us the water once was so clean they used it to make the beer."Rumor has it,the Export Heinekin STILL uses the water from the canal!"

Great post! Looks like you had a fun time. Definitely will do one of those boat rides when I'm in Amsterdam.

You are so right. I once worked on a ship sailing out of Le
Havre and stocked with Heineken Brun and I couldn't get enough of it
It was so much better than our imported Heineken regular beer that to this day I can't drink it. One more tidbit. The galley workers on the Rotterdam would sweat like crazy because of the heat in the galley and pace of the work so they were continually thirsty. Water ? Uh uh. Heinekin all day long. I still can't figure out how they did it.

Agreed. A barman coaxed me into drinking one and I could not believe the difference. No skunk flavor at all.

I was told they brew the export Heinekin because it's what they think is the Ameirecan palat wants!
