Since moving to Texas 12 years ago I have naturally learned many things about it that I never knew before.  Now that I have read that article I know eight more "things" and, further, am shocked by the obvious omissions.

BBQ beef brisket is not an "Official Texas Food"!
Nor are Frito Pie, Dublin Dr. Pepper, Kolache, or Chicken Fried Steak!

Clearly, we have some room to grow.

Dublin Dr Pepper is owned by Snapple. There was plenty outrage over the deal.

Actually, Dublin Bottle Works is independent of Snapple. What Snapple owned was the Dr Pepper trademark and formula. After they split up and went their separate ways Dublin Bottle Works put out a knock off version of the original Dr Pepper and Snapple forced them to take it off the market. Fortunately they are still in business and doing a good bit of new business with a new line of sodas. I wish they had been able to keep making the original and the knockoff, but they went out of their way to poke the Snapple bear and got called on it.

...Snapple said late Wednesday that it has “purchased all of the Dublin bottler’s sales and distribution operations and related assets, as well as the rights to distribute Dr Pepper and other DPS brands in the six-county territory previously served by Dublin.”

Yeah, that's an old story from a couple of years back. Dublin is independent now and makes a number a of sodas using cane sugar and their own formulations. They're still in business. Snapple bought them out to stop them from making the old Dublin Dr Pepper, which Dublin had started selling nationwide in violation of their contract with Snapple. While I dearly miss the old Dublin Dr Pepper (one of my top 3 sodas) Snapple was just protecting their trademark, (even though they no longer produced Dr Pepper using the original formulation). If you're in their region you can stop in and get some of their new sodas. They're quite tasty. I like the cherry limeade, it's rather tasty.

I just looked at the menu for a new fusion restaurant nearby. It has “Dublin Craft Soda” on it separate from and more expensive than “Fountain Soda.”

Due to cane sugar costing more than corn syrup?

TX population is about 28 million. Wisconsin less than 6. So two Wisconsin state foods would be proportional.
1. Cheese
2. Fishfry
3. Frozen custard
4. Cheese curds
5. Butter burger
6. Bratwurst
7. Kringle
8. Brandy Old Fashioned
9. Cranberries
10. Hey Texas, so what?

Wisconsin has four: Cranberries, Corn, Kringle and Cheese

The list makers think Cincinnati is southeast. In real southeastern Ohio, Gallipolis, the chili is made with sausage from Bob Evans' farm in Rio Grande and thickened with Jewel Evans' stone ground corn flour.

I made chili last night. It had neither beans nor spaghetti in it, as the gods intended.
