Spring 2018 Roadfood Crawl

Since no one will take the lead, and I want to avoid the Springfield Disaster that is stirring in someone's head, time to grasp the bull by the horns.

London in May for Fish & Chips! We're going to be in the UK anyway, so if it's not inconvenient, why don't the rest of you join us for a long weekend of bangers, haggis and F&C?

Is it too early for a Doodle?

If Springfield wins, would you bring haggis back for Buddy and ChiBears?

We can get all the Fish & Chips (and a mess o' Hush Puppies, too) we want in Springfield, which will not be a disaster, BTW.

I was hoping this wouldn't come up until later this summer, but as long as we're focused, for now, on the "when" more than the "where" I guess I'm on board.  As we've seen in the recent past, public Doodle Polls tend to get pranked, so maybe interested parties should request a PM version.

Again, this is strictly to determine the best weekend for as many people as possible.  Before we decide on where to go, I'd like to republish the pitches I wrote up for last year's crawl so voters can make an informed decision.  in addition to Cleveland, St. Louis, Detroit, and Springfield, I'll also try to do write ups for Milwaukee and the Twin Cities.

If anyone with the necessary familiarity wants to do a write up for either Nashville or Memphis, I'd give due consideration to both.

Send me the recs for those items and I'll include them as part of a proposed itinerary that would include many other options.

Buddy, Only joking (not about the Swedish Meatballs and Hotdish) of which Sandra and I plan to have both on our Laura Ingalls Wilder trip in September but while you guys go where ever you decide to go, I will be in Colorado and Utah...(sorry it's just that it will have been almost a decade since my last visit out there)

I'm not kidding though.  While the Twin Cities food scene has evolved greatly, those dishes were, once upon a time, an important part of their culinary history.  If there are any places still serving worthwhile versions, they should be part of a wide ranging itinerary (or spreadsheet, if you insist).  Tell us where to find those local specialties and we'll give them a shot.

Any weekend after April 7-8 works for us.

And please add Nashville when the such appropriate time has passed. Tennessee, not Indiana (although Nashville, Indiana, is pretty cool).

A good way to widen our possibilities is to list previous RF bus tour & Glee Club locations and look at some of the earlier ones that may be worth revisiting. I wrote them down a while ago, but misplaced that list.

Since I was unable to attend this year's Crawl, I suggest Kansas City in 2018.

We could probably build a second KC Crawl with all the places we had to exclude from this year's list, or were forced to miss due to time constraints.  But maybe wait a year or two before a return trip.

Is this suggested delay due to arrest warrants?

Resistance is futile.  The 2018 Crawl will be in Springfield.

OK, I'll take the ball.

Do we want the same three weekend options as this spring? That would be...

April 19-22
April 26-29
May 3-6

All three are good for us. Earlier wouldn't work, later would.

Any of those dates fit the bill.  All fall in between Easter and Mother's Day, and presumably before most graduation days.  Just gotta narrow it down to one.
