Re: Contingent casual/unthemed events 2019/06/05 15:00:20 (permalink)
Just a word or two of explanation: At ScreamingChicken's reasonable request, I contacted Tony Bad and asked him to separate from the "spontaneous/casual/unthemed events" thread all discussion regarding last week's visit by our Canadian friends to Chicago and Milwaukee.  The ChickenDude and I agreed, with the amount of time and effort that went into the planning of this multi-day outing, it didn't fit any of those categories.  It should have started off in its own thread, and that was my error in judgment.

Anyhoo...the ever helpful Mr. Bad honored that request (two weeks late, but no complaints), although he seems to have gone a few posts too far.  Also phlmaestro's post regarding The Breakers was unavoidably dragged over here.  The maestro now has an option of leaving that post here or having it deleted by Tony.  Personally, I'd do a copy and paste back into the "spontaneous/casual/unthemed events" thread and then have it removed from here.

Now you know the rest of the story.

I've already offered him payment in the form of a personal Chicago tour, similar to the one just experienced by nagle & Wawa Mama.  He says he's interested, but hasn't booked his flight yet...

If that tour includes Sunset Pho, we may have to hustle back soon.

A big thanks to all who we met up with over the last few days. Our tour of Chicago and Milwaukee was absolutely fantastic. Reconnecting with friends from years past and meeting new ones was a highlight of a wonderful trip. A big thanks to Chuck for chauffeuring us to and from Miller Park. I have to give you fair warning, we will be back! Having visited Milwaukee for the first time, we can’t wait to get back.

Did you wind up buying very many things, both food and non-food, to take back home?

We did not buy much to bring home this time. We stopped on our way back to Chicago and picked up various Wisconsin cheeses. I have an extra old cheddar I am looking forward to trying. A few sausage links and some Sprechers Root Beer and Ginger Beer pretty much round out the purchases.

Officially Honourary Cheeseheads.

"Tailgate party" should have an asterisk, though, as they weren't there for the actual grilling of the bratwurst.  As any tailgating veteran knows, the cooking process is as much of the tradition as the final product.

We did have some cold Point root beers in the cooler, but I think only Buddy indulged.

And I have to mention that Nagle seems to be a natural tailgater, as he showed up with beer.
