Yes, I did request the 28th off, although there will only be one member of the Roadhouse-hold attending.  Mrs. Roadhouse will still be away on her annual vacation from me.  Well deserved, I might add.  We'll need to discus the FLW aspect of the day.

So is 10/28 official, if we can do reservations?

If you're not going, Mr. Maki has also opted out of the FLW tour, so maybe the two of you can ride together and and the irisarbors and I will go together?  Either way, my ticket is bought and I'm going.

We made a scouting trip to No No's Supper Club in Newburg tonight. Brandy Old Fashioneds are 2 for 1 on Sundays, but that only includes well brandy. Net price was $5 for the two drinks. We were not tempted to order another pair.

I had the 7 ounce filet for $23.95. The meat was cooked medium instead of medium rare with a dry, grainy texture. Although it did have good flavor.

Bobbi had the Sunday special, a beef tip dinner for $13.95. It was very enjoyable and the mashed potatoes were exceptional.

Overall, No No's was not up to the standards of many of our favorite supper clubs. Donny's Girl remains our new favorite for an inexpensive supper club experience.

No-No's might we worth another look sometime.  Even though my experience in the restaurant business is limited to a few years as a busboy, one thing I remember is that some of the less-experienced bartenders and kitchen staff would often work Sunday nights in place of the "A" teams.

Was prime rib listed on the menu?

Cross-posting in the spontaneous outings thread:
Last call for Art & Alma's headcount for this Sunday, 10/28.  Time is TBD.  Buddy's going to call to see if they'll make an exception on their "no reservations" policy.  Right now, we have me & Mr. Maki, irisarbor and Mr. iris, Buddy, JRPfeff & pie_diva, Mr. & Mr. quijote, and waiting to hear from two non-RF members.

Some of us are going to Frank Lloyd Wright's Muirhead Farmhouse, which is about 10 mins from Art & Alma's.  Get your tickets if you're interested in that.  The tour is at 3:00pm and we're waiting to hear how long it takes before we finalize the time for Art & Alma's.  Myself and the irises are going, maybe Buddy.

Anyhoo...Cotton Exchange looks like it has potential, either for Friday Fish Fry, or Sunday Fried Chicken.  Any possibility for this happening this year, or is the Holiday schedule starting to strangle our calendars?

Buddy

I/we would definitely be interested in the Sunday chicken special.  I asked them if it was year-round or seasonal and will report back when I know.

I like that the Sunday chicken is served from 2-8pm, and if we had it as a late lunch or early dinner people wouldn't have to drive home in the winter dark.

What time is the movie?  If it's a later showing there's the option of making the meal pre-movie instead of post-movie, but that comes with its own set of risks ("Seinfeld, party of 4.").

Davidsanders suggested the prime rib buffet at 2 and chicken at 6, but I think we could pull it off by hitting the buffet line around 1 or 1:30 with the chicken pre-ordered for 2:30 serving.  I imagine that's probably happened before but not very often.

Brad,

The pre-movie meal is at the Zafiro's restaurant located in the theater building. We're looking at movie starting around 1:00pm to accommodate the Contingent's nite owl,

Now that we've navigated the major winter holidays, is anyone interested in doing a fish fry and/or supper club dinner sometime between now and March 21?

We're free all the remaining Fridays in January.  I'll know about February sometime next week.

My only concern with Fridays is that it still gets dark quite early, and because of work schedules dinner can sometimes run a bit later.  Any thoughts on a Saturday meal or perhaps even a Sunday late lunch/early dinner?  The Sunday chicken at Cotton Exchange is still on the table because...well, when y'all went there there wasn't any on your table.

I'll have my February schedule later this week and let you know.

Doesn't Saturday night preclude a Fish Fry, though?

You are correct, but Saturday night includes prime rib!

When it comes to the 4 seasons, winter is the one I associate most with a nice roast beef dinner.  Spring, summer, and fall all have the advantage of DST and better weather, which in my mind lend themselves nicely to a fish fry.

We're good with whatever- for now we're only looking up until Lent starts, right?.  Fridays and Sundays are free.  Saturdays except for 2/9 and 2/16 are open.

Looks like we've got a couple of Saturdays, the 9th & 23rd, available.  Also got a couple of open Sundays, the 10th & 17th.

Of those who've commented so far, Feb. 23 looks like the most inclusive option for Saturday.  As far as SE WI restaurants go, Hobnob and The Summit look fairly pricey but Michael's on the Lake in Kansasville and Colony House in Trevor have prime rib options for under $30.  But that's also just scratching the surface.

Soooo...

Any objections to Hobnob on Saturday, Feb. 23?  Unfortunately Gyp won't be able to join us but it does look like the best day for the majority, and RFer Train reported that he had a very good dinner there last year.  Yes, we'll have to lay some $$$ on the table but generally speaking we don't patronize the pricey places very often, and we can spend the rest of the year hitting the $12.99 fish fry specials to make up for it.  Although I heard a rumor that ChiBears15 was going to treat us all to dinner at Ishnala sometime this summer.

Feb 23rd works for me.

Also, if I am paying for a group dinner at Ishnala this summer, I guess I will start applying for part time jobs now...

We should be good.  Prices aren't too bad considering some of those larger Steaks (24 oz. Porterhouse, 26oz. Double Cut Prime Rib) can feed two (or more) people.

If Danny is treating at Ishnala, I don't think an extra part time job will cut it.  I'm thinking a second full time, night shift position.

Hobnob sounds great- not too far,
and for some of those larger cuts- some of us wimpier eaters can always share...
