The Edge - Worcester, MA

On RT20 in the old Edgemere Diner. I stopped by today and I was really impressed. Their homemade relishes are great. Best dogs in Worcester IMO.

The place is pretty nice on the inside in spite of the tattered exterior.

Worth a stop for anyone in the area!

It has been back to being called "Edgemere" for some time, and it is actually in Shrewsbury, near the Worcester line.

I stopped in today, and was greeted like an old friend, by one of the men who work there.  The folded, scrambled eggs were good, and the almost burned, but actually perfect, toast was memorable. The home fries, 5/8 inch cubes of soft, yet unbroken potato, were perfect. Another customer jokingly claimed that his home fries were burned. The server/worker (owner??) retorted that "You can't burn home fries". It seemed like I was listening to an old insider joke. For the record, my home fries were not burned.

Sounds like the only coffee served is black, with nary a triple mocha latte in sight...

Sorry, I don't do triple Mocha's- never had, never did.
But I bet the coffee tastes exactly like hot water just like it does at just about all greasy spoons cross the country.

I always loved the Edgemere, as it's a NJ made Fodero Diner...rare in New England. I have not visited it since the early 90's prior to the State taking possession. It was originally the Englewood Diner in Boston. Glad it's up and running well.

I think that the town of Shrewsbury owns it and leases it out, due to the fact that it is a landmark. There seems to be no website, but a Google search provides lots of info.

The Guy who had it the early 90's lost it due to tax issues...which forced the City (I thought State) to take it over. They cleaned it up nicely. Looking forward to stopping by when I head out that way again.
