The Last Nino's Steakhouse Closes

I read it first in a blogpost from WTMJ radio personality Gene Mueller.
I hit Nino's all the time when I lived in Sheboygan.   It was a destination before prom and high school formals, fancy enough to impress your date but not a wallet-buster for a kid working part-time bagging groceries at the local Park 'n Shop.   Nino's and the Hoffbrau on North 8th Street downtown were two of the best places to snag a steak back in my day, which was before The American Club and other alternatives sprung up.
The Hoffbrau became a sports bar years ago.   Now, Nino's is gone, too.   41 years in the restaurant business is a helluva run.   Hope the folks who worked there--including some who'd logged ten years or more, according to the Sheboygan Press--made other employment plans.
There are death notices are here and here.
I remember seeing Nino's franchises all over Wisconsin while growing up, but don't recall ever eating there.  I think my dad bought some sizzling metal platters for steaks from them while eating there that I still use.  Anyone here have any good thoughts of Nino's?

I remember a Nino's in Rockford (maybe on E. State St...I dunno) in the '70s but can't remember if we ever ate there or not...I'm thinking no more than once if we did.  Mom watched the food budget like a hawk and going to a steakhouse - even a Ponderosa/Bonanza - was something that hardly ever happened.
I see that the blog has a picture of a window from a Barnaby's...that was my parents' go-to pizza place back then, too.

I loved Nino's. Mom and Dad took me there every so often back in the 70's, but then they disappeared. Much to my surprise and delight, when Bob and I moved to Sheboygan in 1998, there was Nino's!! The food was good, they still gave you a trio of dressings to choose from in a metal server, and service was wonderful.
Thats a shame they had to close.

My memories of Nino's were all good and echoed Gene Mueller's.
Back when I was a printing pressman, my foreman Tony was once a chef at Nino's He taught me much about food in general and Italian dishes in particular.. We spemnt a summer in Oneida Ny and he took over a kitchen we ate at and made clams Casino. Nino's rocked!

Both my mom and her husband worked at the Nino's that was on HWY 100.  So that was one of the few places I ever got to eat steak.  I just ran across my mom's Nino's pin - the steer head from the logo, in my trinket box.  For some reason I held onto that when she passed....

We had one in Kenosha. Never ate there. Named my first pet, a snail, Nino.
One of my friends wants the recipe for their blue cheese dressing. I forget who, apparently it was the bomb diggity back in the 70's.
