OTOH, if we were thinking about breaking free of Cleveland's gravitational pull,

For some reason I just pictured an old-time fire-and-brimstone preacher exhorting his followers to escape the clutches of Hell...

Bonk,

Understood. No reason for anyone from Cincinnati to ever set foot in Canton.

I'll likely part way with the Crawl to visit the Packers' wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I hope to fit it all into one day.

Gotta figure out when I can do the R&R HoF while we're there. Can't go with Joe Rogo (he'll be there all day signing autographs) or David Sanders (can't pry him away from ELO exhibit) or we'll never leave.

I didn't want to take any weekends off the board just because we couldn't make it, but with others also not being able to attend April 16-19 and Memorial weekend, I feel better about eliminating those dates.

So where are we in date picking? How much longer for the first round?
David

Is there a winner for the dates next year?

OK, I think we can safely eliminate this to two weekends, since they are running way ahead of the others.

Here are the average positions of the weekends:

April 16-19 - out, several can't attend
April 23-26 - 2.7
April 30-May 3 - 2.2
May 7-10 - 3.5
May 14-17 - 4.5
May 21-24 - out, several can't attend
May 28-31 - 3.8

Let me do a little research into these two weekends and make sure there is nothing catastrophic going on in the city. Also, as I said earlier, several of us would prefer to do it when the Tribe are in town.

Last season the MLB schedule was released on Aug. 22.

Voters' average ranking among the available weekends.

Would the number 1 have been if everyone had voted for the same week?

As you know, Johnny McNally is Johnny Blood, and he played football for the Pittsburgh Pirates, too. As to Hutson, why he was just a plain old -- OK, so he was great.

The MLB schedule was announced today, and the Indians play the weekend of April 30-May 3, so unless I find a major event is going on in Cleveland that weekend or if there's strong opposition here, I say we declare that the weekend and move on.

That weekend easily won the first round of voting anyway.

Is everyone OK with that?

No arguments here.  A follow up suggestion for those interested in attending a Cleveland Indians game: Get tickets for the Thursday night (4/30) game so we can have dinner at Sokolowski's on Friday night.  As I've said many times, nothing beats the view from in front of their building (or even the big picture window in their bar) of Progressive Field's Friday night fireworks show.

But don't wait, because those 4/30 tickets will sell out FAST!

With next year's MLB schedule out, this changes my plans a bit.

Reds game on the 28th with John and Cathy

I am going to take Brad's advice and I will visit the Triple X Diner on my way down to Cincinnati.
