The day I ordered pizza that 'doesn't exist'

I read this article today and really enjoyed it.

You wouldn't have this problem in Gary.

Funny....but true......here in America, ordering our pies by topping solves the problem. But once ordering a pizzeria's "special" .asking him to hold a couple of the ingredients, like the anchovies, I was told it wasn't special anymore. Some logic transends oceans!!!!!

I love it. But now I want a Marinara. Can I have a little Pecorino Romano on that, please?

Reminds me of Jack Nicholson's scene about the chicken salad sandwich in Five Easy Pieces!

Also reminds me of an acquaintance of mine from South Boston (think Irish) who went to Italy on vacation.  I asked her how the trip was.  She replied, "Terrible!  Every time I asked for a margarita I got a pizza!!"

And to think, last week we ordered pizza out and our 12 year old granddaughter wanted only pizza with mozzarella and garlic and no tomato sauce. I let my wife call that in and the ensuing discussion over the phone (I only heard my wife's side) seemed overly long for such a simple request.

Thank God they didn't try to order a Prosciutto and kraut.  That could have been ugly.

I'm so used to ordering pizza toppings ala carte that I never would have thought of this. Cheese on a Marinara must be akin to requesting catsup on a Chicago Style Dog.

"The customer is always right" must not be a European concept.
