The other Schreiner's in the Fox Valley

Back in 2014 the Contingent (plus honorary member Joe Rogo) had a meal at Schreiner's, the well-known Fox Valley restaurant in Fond du Lac.  However, in Appleton there's also Schreiner's Diner, which from what I can tell doesn't appear to have any obvious connection to Schreiner's.  A strange coincidence?
As you face the building the diner occupies the right-hand side.

There are 2 U-shaped counters that take up much of the room; this is a quick shot of the open griddle area.

It was Monday morning when I visited and I think I might've been the only non-regular in the place.  I was pretty fried after a weekend of minimal sleep and less than stellar eating habits, so I went with eggs over easy, American fries, and toast.  I wasn't expecting a whole lot but the eggs were definitely fresh and had excellent yolks, the fries were tender, potatoey, and well-seasoned, and the bacon wasn't too fatty, limp, or crisp.  The toast was a little on the weak side (I hope I'm wrong but it seemed like it could've been a commercial bread) on its own but still did a good job of sopping.  Interestingly, Schreiner's Diner apparently doesn't serve corned beef hash but I think it's better to not serve it at all than crack open a can of Mary Kitchen, especially since they appear to make as much of their food as possible from scratch.

Perhaps I'll return next year!
