To Foxboro and back

Moved this from the Foxboro thread since it is more of a trip report
After winning the raffle of two VIP tickets to the Foxboro FOOD AND MUSIC FESTIVAL,the following are some of the restaurants we experienced on our drive from Florida to Foxboro and back.
Although the festival was not a pleasant experience,we did enjoy many restauranrts along the way
Some were roadfood recomended and others we found on our own .
Sorry, no pictures, camera problems
June 21
GA  Pig   Brunswick Ga
Have been here a few times before.
It is still a good stop but didn't seem as good as it used to be
June 22
ELLA'S   Calabash NC
We wanted to avoid the large expensive seafood places at Myrtle Beach and this was just the place.
My wife had the popcorn shrimp which was great.I had the fried fish with two sides.
June 23
LAWREY"S SEAFOOD    Tappahannoch VA.
They had a rather extensive buffet which we both had
Although it is a seafood place the beffet had a great many choices and was very good.
It has a large seating capacity and even has some antique cars inside
June 24
SILVER COIN DINER    Hammonton NJ  Rt 30 and Rt 206
Very good breakfast. Been here before ,the tomato juice taste like it was fresh made.
Had chipped beef on toast with hash browns
Since I am originally from Connecticut,I indulged in a hot toasted and buttered lobster roll,Rhode Island clam chowder washed down with birch beer
My wife from pennsylvania settled for the lobster bisque
June 25
Since this didn't work out so well as I explained earler We left about three o:clock and went back to the hotel
All was not lost as we had a great pizza which we find very hard to find in Florida
PIZZA 85    Milford MA
June 26
Nothing special  I Hop and TG FRIDAY
June 27
   HART’S TURKEY FARM   Meredith NH.
Been here before and still like it very much
I had the medium turkey dinner and it was great.
My wife had the turkey croquetts but  did not really care for them.
They had seafood and meats on the menue that I didn’t remember from our previous visit quite a while ago.
June 28
Good breakfast Poached eggs on corn beef hash with bacon and toast.
The hash had no potatoes just chopped meat ,but it was excellent
NINTY NINE RESTAURANT    West Springfield MA. [size=3 font="times new roman"]
Never been to one of these franchise restaurants
The food was just OK
June 29
I- 84 DINER  Fishkill NY. Right off I 84 i 84 diner menu
We have been here several time for breakfast and lunch and always liked it.
I had one of the lunch specials, Chicken Francaise on  linguine with a salad and ice tea
It was one of the best meals I had on this trip
They serve American,Greek and Italian dishes
There disply of pasteries is fantastic
Google I- 84 menu to see their emormous menu
June 30
Johnnie’s Restaurant  Chambersberg PA
This is my wife’s home town though she left it meny years ago and has no relatives there now
Jojnnie’s is and old local restaurant that takes cash only
I had the creamed beef on toast with excellent fried potatoes
THE BUTCHER SHOP Near I-75 exit to Rt 30
This place fascinates me. In Amish/Menonite area the foods you can purchase are amazing
All kinds of home made soups and broths in plastic cartons in refrigerated shelfs
There is a sit down bakery and sandwich shop
And the meats are what you don’t usually see at home Scrapple,Souse,Jellied tounge famers cheese and on and on
I picked up some farmers cheese, srapple and real bulk dried beef( not the stuff you see in the little jars)
Had supper here A real roadfood type place We both had chicken, fried oakra and green beans
The lady that served said her mother bought the place in 1981
July 1
Here again for breakfast
My wife felt a little out of place since she was the only  women in the place except the waitress
Bunch of good ol boys like me there(only with different accents)
Every time a new one came in, he would take a coffee pot and go around to all the table and fill everyones coffee cups
Really made you feel at home
July 1 thru July 4
Maryville   TN
Visiting relatives .  Did try a franchised restaurant called CHEDDERS which was pretty good
July 4
This looked like a really new place Had a good breakfast here A mixed plate of fried potatoes, cheese, onions, peppers ,tomatoes and ham
July 5 our last day on the road
DIXIE GRILL   Live Oak FL. On RT 90 Just a couple blocks east of Rt 129
This is what I consider a true roadfood place
We always stop here for breakfast , lunch or dinner when traveling in the area
For lunch I had the fried chicken special with two sides, salad bar and ice tea for $5.95  Can’t beat that for really good chicken
My wife had the ham steak special
In the past I had the fried chicken livers which were great
They also have fried chicken gizzards or a combination plate of the two
Their liver and onions are very good
They have menu with a lot of choices
Well, that’s the end of our trip to the disappointing Great American Food and Music Festival at Foxboro
I glad we went since we had great food traveling there and back

Thanks for giving us the positive side of the trip !! If anyone has ever been handed "Lemons" It was you...and you made  "Lemonade" quite well from them !

I'll second the comment on the chain-place Cheddars. We like their Catfish Dinner, always enough (10 pieces) of very good fish to take home some for later! (less than $10 !)
