Tom Wolfe Passes

Heller, Salinger, Doctorow, Bellow, Updike, 'Dr.' Thompson ..., and now, the truly wonderful  Tom Wolfe has become 'late' as well as 'great'

Of my 'contemporary favorites' in societal observation, only P.J. O'Rourke survives.  And, like me, he is well past his prime.

I'm not sure Mr. O'Rourke would agree with your assessment.  I remember when he was an editor at National Lampoon; quite a far distance from his current image as a voice for conservatism.  He's still funnny on his occasional visits to NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me."

Also, Margot Kidder passed away yesterday.  The late 70s-80s Superman movies may not hold up over time, but she'll always be remembered as the definitive big screen Lois Lane.

Spooky, I saw an article yesterday about venture capitalists funding anti-VC groups that made me think of Radical Chic. And I walked through a department store today and saw a number of white suits for sale that made me think of him.
