Top 10 Steakhouses in Phoenix AZ

Vegan's may come and Vegan's may go, but one trend will never change: American's Love Steak!
The Valley of the Sun has some good Steakhouses that rank with any in the country.
Here's a list compiled by Howard Seftel, the local newspaper food critic.
If you're in the Valley and hankering for a good steak, any one of these places will fill the bill:
  1. Donovan's Steak and Chop House - www.donovanssteakhouse.com
  2. Ben & Jacks - www.benandjackssteakhouse.com
  3. J & G Steakhouse - www.jgsteakhouse.com
  4. Michael Dominick's Lincoln Av Prime Steakhouse - www.dominickssteakhouse.com
  5. Mastro's Steakhouse - www.mastrosrestaurants.com
  6. Bourbon Steak - www.fairmont.com/scottsdale
  7. Don & Charlie's - www.donandcharlies.com
  8. Durant's - www.durantsaz.com
  9. Arrowhead Grill - www.arrowheadgrill.com
  10. BLT Steak - www.bltscottsdale.com
I've been to Don & Charlie's, Durant's and Donovan's and can vouch for any of them.
Anyone been to any of the others?

Haven't been to any of those listed above, but we very much enjoyed Rustler's Rooste - "Beef & Brew with a View"  on South Mountain.   Great views from up there, especially at night.  Janet's Uncle and Aunt, who live in the Phoenix area, took us there back in 1991.    http://www.rustlersrooste.com/

I have been to Don and Charlies. Awesome place!

I haven't been to Mastro's in PHX but I've been to two locations here in OC. OK, but I have certainly had better.

I had one of the best steaks ever at Harris' whose premises were apparently taken over by Donovan's - a worthy successor.  Bourbon Steak in D.C. is excellent, but still is not the king of D.C. steaks; that remains The Prime Rib.

BTW, BLT Steak's Dallas outpost only stayed in business for a few months, joining Smith & Wollensky and Ruth's Chris in failure.  Morton's is hanging on in its Uptown location, having closed their West End and Galleria stores: more than just a little competition down here.

    I've been to Donovan's Durant's & Mastro's.  I recently dined at Steak44: www.steak44.com

I would place Steak44  at or near the top of this list. The veal chop was the best I've ever had and I've been to many fine steak houses. Service was excellent. This restaurant is an offshoot of Dominick's which is owned by the former owners of Mastro's. Landry Restaurant group has owned Mastro's since 2007.

Where's the Stockyard? Have they gone downhill?

We ate there about 9 months ago and it was fine.
It's one of those places that doesn't get noticed much but they have a very loyal Clientele and the place is always pretty busy.
Not as Flashy as others on the list but a nice relaxed enjoyable place.
