Here’s a much more loving and appreciative look at the origins.

Thanks for the link.  I saw an earlier thread with the origin being given as fish processors in the PNW trying to find a way to make money out of what was considered a trash fish!

I don't recall ever having the dish.  I can't remember my mom getting into casseroles until after I went away to college in '60.

We ate tunafish between two pieces of white bread, with Blue Plate or Dentler Maid mayonnaise and Del Dixie pickles, the way it was meant to be eaten .

I love tuna casseroles, in all their many forms. My mom used to make them when we were young and I always liked the way they tasted. Hard to hate a creamy, tuna laden sauce with noodles and peas, topped with crushed up potato chips. Also a big fan of tuna added to Kraft Mac & Cheese dinner. And do not even get me started on how damned good the Swanson Tuna Pot Pie was! I'm still mad at them for getting rid of that one!

If it was called Tuna Alfredo and endorsed by Mario and Bobby you’d embrace it.

We must have been poor, all we had was Noodles and cabbage (Haluskie). We used to eat bowls of this and it was great. I grew up in the Mashed potato and meat world. People worked hard and ate big meals at Supper. When's the last time anyone used the word supper??? If it was Tuna casserole, Haluskie or anything with pasta it was a great way to stretch a meal for a large family.

Where I grew up, dinner was lunch and supper was the evening meal.
You’re correct.

Not likely, in part perhaps, because flagging anything as Alfredo means it's not Italian. Instead, it's Olive Garden or the equivalent.

That’s cool. So Italian you’ll only eat Italian/Italian food, no American Italian.

It was during their first venture to Ancient Rome that the founding fathers discovered Spaghetios. This was like nothing they had ever seen before. They could barely contain their glee at those little tiny pasta O's drenched in the sweet orange tomato-like sauce.
