Virginia Beach restaurant raising its structure to prevent future flood damage

Bubba's Seafood Restaurant in Virginia Beach, VA is getting a lift. They are temporarily closed while the restaurants building is raised up from its present level to a higher, and safer level. The rising sea levels in the area have forced them to take this rather drastic measure to prevent more flooding of the building. Glad to see that this place is taking measures to preserve themselves, rather than close down. Lots of others in that area will also have to decide what they want to do, too. Even the US Navy is worried about their facilities in the area.

That can't be a cheap project and being closed for 3-5 weeks (which will surprise no one if it turns into 6-8 weeks) is a double whammy, but apparently it beats relocating.

Yeah, I won't be surprised if it takes longer. We're going to see more of this in the future, where seaside joints are concerned. Hopefully they'll have the wherewithal to get up out of the waters way and not just close up shop.
