Visiting Charleston, SC - August 19-22

Hello folks,

Just a quick FYI. David Sanders and myself will be in Charleston from August 19th to the 22nd. We will be posting our eating itinerary in the next few weeks once finalized. It would be great if any local Roadfooders would want to meet up with us. All are welcome to join us for a few meals.

Take care,
Danny

So I'll be flying into Raleigh and heading to Grady's on August 15th, then over to Columbia for two nights. I'll be stopping at the pig pickin' at Jackie Hite's on Friday and then will spend three nights in Savannah. Sunday morning I'll be driving the hour and a half each way to Southern Soul. I've been looking forward to going back since my only visit in January, 2015. Monday I'll drive to Charleston and meet up with Danny, who is arriving in Charleston on Sunday.

Anyone who wants to meet up with us in Charleston, or me in Columbia or Savannah, let us know.

Hello,

I am considering two restaurants for dinner on Sunday August 19th in Charleston. Has anyone been to Poogan's Porch or 82 Queen? If so, what was your experience? Any dishes you can recommend? Thanks in advance!

So sorry I won’t be there until the next day. But I’ll be enjoying my last day in Savannah, including a trip to Southern Soul, meeting up with Keith, and Vic’s on the River for dinner.

In a dramatic departure from my usual types of restaurants on these trips, Indaco looks like a very interesting Italian restaurant. I've never been there, but have walked by it many times on my visits to Charleston, and it always very crowded and the dishes being served look terrific. Hardly regionally appropriate.

home

I think it will be a really good trip!

82 Queen lives up to its hype.  Try the deep fried buratta.......let me say that agin, deep fried buratta.  Steaks, chops and dessert were all top notch.

The shrimp and grits were very good.....you can call it, busy shrimp and grits.

Excellent burger also.

I know. I've been there twice and am so looking forward to it again. From my first visit.

My visit last August. I learned my lesson and ordered about half the amount. It's spectacular.

Yes you were! I tried to get you to come to Savannah. Some excuse about having to work.

I’ve changed my flight because of the alert from United about bad weather. I’m leaving tonight. It’s costing me about an extra $200, but at least I don’t have to get up tomorrow morning at 2:45!
