The WaPo article.

That once glorious paper that I read faithfully and daily 1969 - 2005 has been spiraling into a ditch since the untimely death of Kathryn Graham and Ben Bradlee's retirement.

Hatch Chili Powder from Texas?
I stopped reading right there...
And avocado is NOT an acceptable topping. I think they got Texas and California confused!

To say nothing of New Mexico.

sadly, "confusion" is routine these days at Bezos' ego toy as they confuse their news and editorial pages daily.

As much as I hate to have to say this, don't put all the blame on the Washington Post.  Sure, a Post copy editor should have known better, but the real problem -- and as a former Associated Press writer I cringe -- lies in the fact that The AP provided the story written by a non-AP employee.

I was just about to post something similar, as a Google search of '"Katie Workman" "Texas chili" ap' turns up a number of newspapers and websites that published the article.  Her bio at Workman Publishing lists her as an AP columnist, however.

She's a freelancer and does one of the rotating food things for AP Newsfeatures. They also use freelancers for such topics as car repair, home repair, etc.

I reached out to the 'final word' editor at AP. I'll let y'all know what he says.

I had a nice discussion with the editors at AP, and they saw the errors in the article, and have issued a correction.
