Funny, when I visited my sister in Palm Springs, California, We found Taylor Pork Roll in a cool store that sold lots of unusual foods (to them)....but what I found impossible to find were traditional poppy seeded Kaiser rolls to make the New Jersey breakfast sandwich. ...found a reasonable substitute, and they are fans of the traditional Jersey sandwich!!!!

That should be "New Jersey" style...Taylor pork roll is an invention of Trenton New Jersey...that's the red box you talk of... Case is another great brand!

No, No, No.. NY style in that the egg is not scrambled, just the yolk broken; common practice in NY. And the red box is clearly marked Taylor....

Never had pork roll served with scrambled egg anywhere in Jersey, unless you asked for it. Jersey, it's egg over easy, pork roll and American cheese on a kaiser roll. Period. Where did you get that info??????

I've been getting a lot of them lately as my wife and I go out to brunch almost every Saturday.  Most are pretty standard but the one at the Fox in the Snow in Italian Village in Columbus is a standout.  Souffled eggs, cheese, bacon, greens, some kind of mustardy sauce, and crusty bread.  A good description of it can be found at this link:

Favourite breakfast sandwich? Well, if the ones I make it it would have to be a ham and fried egg with cheddar on white. Hits the right spot every time. Of the sandwiches someone else makes it would have to be the fried egg, ham tomato and cheese on grilled white I used to get from the little grill booth down stairs from the American Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. It was my daily go to for breakfast when I lived there. So yummy.

A "me too" "Sausage McMuffin" as served by one of several small breakfast/lunch places. Now that McD has raised prices again, the same money gets you something better at the little guys place............. But in a pinch, a sausage McMuffin will do. I eat so few of them now, and travel so little, though, that a short trip to the better place is an adventure. I prefer the sandwich with a folded scrambled egg, rather than the ring cooked egg with the whole yoke. Both of the places that I go to are happy to customize for me.

The Chief's Club, at the former NAS South Weymouth served one with the egg portion being egg benedict (sp??). THAT runny yoke, along with the sauce, was wonderful.

I had a new one this weekend at Sassafras Bakery in Worthington, OH (connected suburb just north of Columbus).  It is similar to the one I referenced above from Fox in the Snow but I think this one was even better.  It was the same idea - egg souffle, bacon, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese, but this one had a chimichurri mayo that I really liked.  This is the half i took home with me and ate cold later and it was still good right out of the fridge.  In the background is the last part of my wife's gooey cinnamon roll that I got a bite of.  It was excellent as well.

For a quick grab and go sandwich, I like McD's Sausage, egg and cheese bagel.

We tried a new to us place called Moma's Bar-B-Q in Memphis over the weekend.  Despite the name, they are best known for their breakfasts.  You don't see that many Spam biscuits, but this Spam, egg and cheese between crunchy topped biscuits was terrific.

And this was a serious country ham, that packed a flavor wallop.

From the now-closed Dixie News in Staunton, VA ... their lunch counter kept it simple:

An over-easy fried egg and a thin slice of country ham on buttered white toast.
