They have soundtracks? I thought Zamfir did'em - the first movie is an all-time favorite of mine.

So right now, I've got Conan O'Brian on (w/Tom Hanks) - previously playing a cd of 1940s Nat King Cole Trio stuff.

Right now- my wife Later something old and cool like Groupo Sportivo, Sinceros, or PEZBAND!!! Probably wind up with The Coral, Ben Kweller. BTW for you Squeeze and XTC fans- i was there, and my brother had a "The Jam" cover band in the early eighties that pretty much rocked the Chicago area!

AC/DC. However, since their last Atlanta tour some years ago I must admit I think I am a bit hearing impaired.

They are French imports. Cosma also did Diva, Rabbi Jaccob, and a number of films never released here. Interesting you should mention Zamfir. He also plays on Kill Bill.

Pezband! There's a name I never thought I'd see 'round these parts. On the other hand, I also never thought I'd see a 14-year-old girl wearing a Pezband t-shirt on Central Avenue in Albuquerque about three years ago, either...

Tiki: did you know James and Lucky have a new duo album out? It's called If You Can't Fix It, just out on JSP. Great stuff.

Currently: Just my little desk fan and the sound of one of the cats asleep on top of my toolbox a few feet away. Although if I concentrate, I can hear the hardcore band playing a house party about a block down...

Saw him last month in Philly. Sat in second row. Shook his hand after the show. We're seeing him in September in Atlantic City. We have his cd and a signed copy of the cd/dvd.

Hey Biscuit,

A few hours ago I was sitting on my front porch listening to Hazel Miller singing over at the Wine Festival in the parking lot over at Atlas Crossing at 95th and Arapahoe. I love her.

Currently listening to Beethoven's 7th Symphony, preceded by Maroon5.

Mel Torme----a CD my son gave me called That's All. Great romantic stuff sung by the "Velvet Fog" in his prime. When that's finished Fred Astaire's "Finest Hour", a swinging Astaire with jazz musicians behind him -- not songs from the movies. Happy Father's Day guys !!!!

At Iota outside Washington, D.C. (http://www.iotaclubandcafe.com/),
Tilbrook has become famous for leading his current audience outside
the rear entrance of the club to perform acoustic Squeeze
tunes in the parking lot at the end of his set.
Very cool.

Amen! That string of singles between "Start!" and "Have You Ever Had It Blue" -- very few writers ever get a run like that.

...except, maybe, XTC.

Amen!to XtC! I spent the latter part of my week getting ready for vacation (packing, cleaning) listening to "Nonsuch" (not their best, but it has moments, like "Peter Pumpkinhead") and lamenting the fact that there are few extremely brilliant pop bands out there anymore ... XtC, Squeeze, etc. I guess I'm just picky...

right now, listening to David Bowie's "Scary Monsters"...

I'm listening to the quiet cries of my new, 6-day-old daughter, and the typical medley of cars and horns outside my window, 18 floors below.

Oops...those cries are now loud ones.

Never thought I'd see a Pezband reference on this website! Wow! Bought that album for a quarter on South Street in Philly in college.

I'd say Squeeze is my favorite of the late 70's/early 80's "pure pop" bands, but Marshall Crenshaw and the Shoes also deserve a mention...and none of this would be possible without the lads from Liverpool---the greatest "pop" band there ever will be.

At this very moment, I'm listening to Carina Round plus some power tools going across the street. She sounds a bit too much like PJ Harvey---whom I absolutely love, but there are two or three killer songs on the CD...and I got it for free. (Working in radio has a few benefits anyway). Up next...Lyrics Born.

Too many different kinds of music to list. But if it's allowed I will recommmend a website with free software that allows you to listen to anything you like, it's www.musicmatch.com. You can download a basic version of musicmatch's Jukebox software, which allows you to search for and listen to music by a particular artist that's currently playing. If your choice is not available you are directed to similar music, which is a great way to discover new stuff that you will like. I swear they have every genre of music known to man. They also sell music downloads, but I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks, everyone. That vegetarian bib would actually make sense for my two-year-old, who LOVES lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and all kinds of vegetables. And she doesn't care for sweets. Don't worry, though...I'll teach her.

Ah, Ms. S, "Tinseltown in the Rain" (nevermind the
single "Stay") were indeed 1980s boudoir staples but pale
in comparison to the definitive soundtrack of that era.

Yes, we're talking:

Slave to love? You bet.

I'm afraid that aside from "Valentine" and "Slave To Love," Boys and Girls was where I jumped off the Bryan Ferry bandwagon. I got into Roxy Music in junior high (early '80s) based on exposure to the Eno-era stuff, so stuff like "Virginia Plain" is what I was into Roxy Music for.

Now, personally, I've got a lot of fond memories of Everything but the Girl's Baby the Stars Shine Bright.

But right now, it's back to that Queen box set. I'm on The Game, which is the last of the discs. Next I think is probably an Amy Rigby live set I got off eMusic, or maybe the new Deerhoof album.

Ah, Mrs. I95's favorite album, the 1986:

However, if I'm going to listen to something as airy as a hot Krispy Kreme doughnut, it's gotta be:

The Legendary Jim Ruiz Group's
1995 "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" CD

Wow, I haven't thought of that record in years. Whatever happened to Jim Ruiz, anyway?

Current listening: the rain against the windows and We Shall All Be Healed, the latest album by the Mountain Goats, one of my absolute favorite bands.
