buffetbuster, I really like Donald Fagen's most recent solo album, Morph The Cat. Good stuff.

This one is on "Philosophy as a Guide to Living" the section on Hegel. This morning I also just ordered 2 more series: "The Renaissance, Reformation and Rise of Nations" and "The Trancendentalists".
Ok I admit it, I'm a nerd.

Thanks for the tip on the new Donald Fagen album. I hadn't heard too much about it. I like just about everything he has done, so I will definitely pick it up!

An amazing song by Fleet Foxes called "Mykonos". Also back to Phil Ochs, once again. My boyfriend put together a DVD of our recent day trip to Havre de Grace and put "Pleasures of the Harbor" as the music. Phil's voice has been in my heart since 1969. I do prefer his earliest stuff, though, and fortunately I've got it on CD, so that's what's in the car now.

And of course I ALWAYS am listening to Cumbia. That's my mood-lifter, quicker-picker-upper and waker-upper.

The Mets game on the radio, sitting on the patio, a cold beer at my side, laptop on my lap, 75 degrees, low humidity, Saturday evening. Sometimes life can't get any better than the simple things.

A cute new song played locally on amp 103.3, "Prayer in C" ("forgive you") It sounds sort of like Adele, but is by a band called (insert bad word here....). The name of the band is, IMO, stupid, because the DJ can't say it on the radio. I looked it up on Wikipedia.....it was not a hit, but the unauthorized remix playing now is a huge hit.

Beethoven's Symphony No. 3.  Beethoven originally titled the Symphony "Buonaparte"  but when Napoleon declared himself "Emperor" Beethoven famously tore up his manuscript and renamed it "Eroica".  Beautiful music.

Sunday mornings I catch up on anything I may have missed on this radio program.

The first segment on his 2/13/2015 show is hilarious.  It seems that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker didn't complete his B.A. at Marquette.

Heaven forfend!  (BTW: neither Bill Gates or Harry S Truman earned a college degree).

To quote a recent Secretary of State (who did complete her education at Wellesley by writing a Senior Thesis in praise of Saul Alinsky): "What difference, at this point, does it make"?

I'm at the office (on a Saturday) streaming WEXT from Albany. At the suggestion of my brother-in-law I've been enjoying them for a while...until the anti-streaming crack down at work (right after I donated $60 to the station)...all the streaming was slowing down the boss' e-bay activity...

My latest music purchase was Miles Davis "Kind of Blue". I remember hearing my dad's copy as a kid..Holy crap! this is an all-star jazz album...!

I was surfing YouTube and came across the reason I am afraid of heights.

In 1979 I was driven down this Andean road by an expert driver in a Rover: it is a one lane, but two way dirt/rock road with no guardrails and sheer drops > 1,000'.

Ever since I have (literally) suffered from acrophobia, even when driving over a benign bridge
like I-40 over the Mississippi.

The North Yungas Road in Bolivia is lined with many crosses; an example of why:

I'm listening to the City of Racine and Racine County Sheriff's Departments live audio police scanners and it seem to be quite a busy night.

This may be the only music from the 21st Century that I knowingly and willingly listen to. The song references two California restaurants with Roadfood potential.

I'm not a big fan of American Idol this year, and have not brought back the old thread, but last week one of the remaining guys sang "Sharp Dressed Man", as re-arranged by Little Steven. It was really, really good.

The "Garage" channel has been playing the band "The Red Button" this week. "Boy, that sounds like Herman's Hermits", I thought. It should...............same lead singer, Peter Noone (sp?). The fact that he is a part time DJ on Garage, probably gets him some extra exposure. The fact that an old guy, who doesn't even know how to download, likes them, does them no good at all.

I saw that 250,000 albums will be released this year. If just 1% are really good, how do they stand a chance of getting exposure?

Speaking of great albums that didn't make it, I listened to "THEM Again", over and over when I made a 28 hour round trip to Virginia this past weekend for a reception. I think that it sold about 8 copies when it came out, but now all these years later, it sells fairly well. Van Morrison's rendition of Dylan's "Baby Blue", is still my favorite version. Jimmy Page, then an unknown session man is said to be the uncredited guitar player for many of the cuts. The tongue twisting lyrics of "Sad Eyes", though, make it my favorite on the album.

I ate zero Roadfood on the trip. I packed a cooler with Pepsi zero, choc dipped Devil Dogs (really good,,,I will not be buying them again soon), celery sticks and cold cuts. I only stopped to use the rest rooms and traveled in the middle of the night. I made great time without breaking any speed limits (I slowed down when the GPS warned me to)
