Looking forward to the return of Dark Matter and Killjoys to SyFy tonight. Excellent science fiction and very good productions.

Finishing up binge watching all 12 seasons of Hawaii 50, the old Jack Lord original series. It's taken me a long time, but I have One disc of 4 episodes left in Season 12!

That's where our disc collection comes in.  Ms OC and I just finished watching the entire series of Downton Abbey.

I have that on my list to watch this winter.  My wife and I went and visited Highclere castle a couple of weeks ago which is motivating me to watch.  She watched the entire series already and it was like she was in front of a movie star when she saw it in person.

Our current nightly show is Broadchurch  It is a British detective series with David Tennant and Olivia Colman.  We started watching it because we watched the Night Manager on AMC and liked Olivia Colman quite a bit.  Now we both absolutely love her.  it is a show you have to watch with the closed captioning turned on because David Tennant's accent is so thick.

I have just started watching the Twilight Zone series on Netflix. I get a kick out of seeing known actors just starting their careers. I also enjoy seeing all the character actors whose faces I remember, but not their names. Not to mention, the stories are great.

For something different on Netflix, try Rita. It's a Danish TV series about a school teacher. What a pair of jeans she's got.

While it was only the pilot episode, Designated Survivor showed some promise.

Yup...its on ABC, but they're moving it around, so check your local listings.

It's somewhat the same scenario by which Tom Clancy made Jack Ryan the President:  the entire government gets killed during a State of the Union address.

Clancy had a disgruntled Japanese pilot fly a 747 into the Capitol in Debt of Honor(BTW, his novel was published in 1994; I hope it didn't spawn the 9/11 plot).

We don't know (yet) who was responsible in Designated Survivor.  Kiefer Sutherland's character is a milquetoast HUD Secretary who suddenly becomes President.  I'm guessing that the mild-mannered former professor will soon be summoning his inner Jack Bauer.

My DVR is staying tuned, especially as the delicious Maggie Q is in the cast.

Edit:  Speaking of disaster scenarios, I'm still pi$$ed off at HBO for cancelling The Brink, a truly wonderful black comedy.  It was the best and funniest show on TV.

IMO, DVR is the only way to watch it. I'll not watch it on regular broadcast again, because it is about 50% ads. ABC seems to run even more ads than the other networks. If the show lasts I may binge watch it on Netflix in a year or so. A 10 episode season will take about 5 hours to watch on Netflix.

While watching the second episode I got a queasy feeling that the "bad guys" are not "the usual suspects"; instead, I think the writers are going to try and hang it on a group of "deplorable".

The Last Kingdom, on Netflix. I've read all of the books in the series, and it is good to see the people brought to life. I'm late to the party, as it has been out for some time. Whoever plays Alfred, later to be Alfred The Great, nails the part of the single minded, sickly, hero. My only problem is the total lack of historical accuracy in the costumes. I have only so much time, even though I am semi retired, so I have about given up on network TV (except for CNN/Fox/MSNBC), due to the high number of ads.

Another vote for Timeless!

But I'm a sucker for time travel plots.

Even though Vulcan had to be destroyed, one "good one" brought back James T. Kirk & Spock.  After the latest movie, however, I now wonder why.
