#1  Cattlemen's in the old Stockyard City section of Oklahoma City, OK.

I have not tried Bern's in Tampa yet, but am looking forward to it now that I'm only a couple hours away.

Cattlemen's was good
We hope to make a return visit in 2018 on the way to Albuquerque

In 2013, on a trip to Denver, the wife & I stopped for lunch at Doe's Eat Place in Little Rock and then dinner the same day at the Cattleman in OK City. Lunch was far better than dinner for us.

For me, for many reasons:  The Prime Rib in Washington, DC.

Of course, not everyone agrees.

I'll agree if you're picking up the check.

Sorry to hear Cattlemen's (OK City) wasn't better for you.  We really enjoyed it.  It does seem to make many top 10 lists, and some top 5 lists.   It's number 10 on this one:

Looks like Las Vegas is the steak capital of America.
We just have Omar's here in our little corner of the globe. Lots of atmosphere and great food and neon. Took Ed Sails there but he ordered a pork chop which is a rarity in LA. :)

I was just about to ask about Keen's in NYC.  I've never been there but know its reputation and its been around since the 19th century.  I've seen Anthony Bourdain do a show there once or twice.  I see on the link WhereGreggEats posted above it is listed as number 3.

Keen's has the real old time steakhouse ambiance and is famous for the mutton chop, which is good, but rumor has it is really a thick lamb chop and not truly mutton. The really great dish is the prime rib--the best you can find in NYC.

Keens is good, but I usually go for the "mutton chop".

Based on this thread I expect JRPfeff to be listing Bonanderosa as his favorite.

I like the old school places...

#1  Pine Club - Dayton
#2  Gorat's - Omaha
#3  Harry Carey's - very underrated; excellent steaks here
#4  Mortons - downtown Chicago
#5  The old Golden Ox in Kansas City

Someday I would really like to try Peter Lugers, Berns, St Elmo, among others....

If $$ was no object, would probably eat out more often.  Have eaten at Ruth's Chris a few times and every time a great experience.  First time warned about side of sides... baked potatoes a "big as your head".  Had the petit filet... LOVE that dangerously hot plate it was served on.  SIL and I split one of those gigantic backed potatoes and probably at least a doxen fat spears of asparagus.

Many years ago, was a place called "Victoria Station" in King of Prussia, PA.  Specialty was prim rib... smallest was boneless (reasonable size imo?) up to TWO ribs (like Fred Flintstone and about 2 pounds).  Once came home with HUGE "doggie bag(s)"... scraps and lots of bones still with decent amount of meat on them.  Well, I "doctored" the bones up and snacked on them before the dogs got them!

My favorites:
5 O'clock club near downtown Milwaukee-fabulous bone in rib eye
Harry Careys- exquisite filet
Larry and Eds Steak and Stein( now closed)- some of the best prime rib I have had to date( except Lawrys in Chicago)
