What happened to my canned goodies??

One of my favorite sections in the supermarket is the Canned Meat/ Fish area.  There I find things like Spam, Deviled Ham, Vienna Sausages and Corned Beef.  They used to have canned octopus, mussels, baby clams, and fish steaks.  Now the only fish I see is Kipper Snacks, anchovies and about 45 varieties of Sardines.  (why so many?)  What happened to all the other goodies???

Depending on the store, it is likely they got rid of some stuff due to the fact it didn't sell or didn't sell fast enough. Happens all the time. I get shafted in the yogurt section like that.

My Wife says the store secretly reads her shopping list and then discontinues that item.

My go to yogurt was the store brand plain.  Now that the yogurt takes up three quarters of the dairy aisle, guess what...no plain

I am sure that is it.  The same way I lost my Campbell's Scotch Broth and Pepper Pot soup. Now they have a dozen varieties of chicken noodle.

Oh God. I actually called and complained to Campbell's about their Scotch Broth. I found it in a Target a few years ago. A different recipe, however. Never liked pepper pot as a kid, when I saw "tripe" listed as an ingredient! Boy I guess food styles and tastes change...sad,but a part of growing old!!

If you want to go to the trouble this is fairly close to Campbell's.

Those were my three favorites.  Pepper Pot, Scotch Broth and Chicken Gumbo.  Many a lunch on a cold winter day when I was a kid

Interestingly enough, I just returned from doing some shopping at my local Walmart Superstore, where I picked up some sardines and kippers, and they had canned octopus, squid, mussels and a plethora of various seafoods. Maybe you might check your local Walmart for these delicacies.

Still better than okra, though.
