What thickness waffle??

This just came up in another thread. We've been looking for a waffle iron, and all we can find are Belgian waffle makers. We want the regular traditional waffle maker. I grew up on regular waffles before you ever saw those thick waffles, and prefer those. Which style do you prefer??

Go to Bed, Bath and Beyond.  Cuisinart makes a low priced $30 waffle maker that makes perfectly thin round waffles.

They also make a high end double sided round Belgium Waffle maker.

Now...  I prefer my waffles to be square!

Me, too.  I got a square waffle iron with removable/reversible non-stick plates (one side with grooves -- or whatever they are called -- and one flat, so you can make waffles or grilled sandwiches) made by some obscure manufacturer (whose name I can't recall) more than 20 years ago at a Service Merchandise or some similar catalog store (remember those?).  It makes excellent "regular" waffles. My favorite is made with cornmeal, but I like buckwheat, too.

A really good Belgian waffle is fine, but 99.9% of the ones you find in restaurants are doughy disasters, in need of massive toppings to become (semi-)edible. Thin and crisp is definitely the way to go.

There is plenty of syrup in those apples, which have been stewed in it. It's maple hurricane sauce from Polly's Pancake Parlor.

Make 'em Belgian and make 'em crispy.

Pearl sugar, pecans and bacon are optional.

When in Belgium, do as the Belgians do.
When in America, do as the Americans do----Go to Waffle House!

I generally prefer Belgian, preferably made with yeasted batter made the night before.

Unless I'm making pecan waffles.  Those need to be on the regular waffle iron.

No!  Because you'll want to make multiples at the same time!
