Looks tasty! I've got chicken planned for early next week.

Today is a cold, rainy, lazy day, and I wanted comfort food. So... Kidney bean rabbit (or Welsh Rarebit if you'd rather, whatever). I made double, so there's plenty for leftovers later.

Went to Portillo's for an Italian Beef and a Chocolate Cake Shake. Daughter had a hot dog, son had a chili dog and the wife deconstructed an Italian Beef. The sandwich was really good. The dogs were a bit small, compared to what we normally make at home using Nathan's. The clear winner, though were the shakes. Oh, man were these good. A chocolate shake with a slice of their chocolate cake whizzed up in it? Hell yeah! There was even cake left over in the bottom for an extra treat when I got home. Other than the horribly long wait (about 50 minutes) for ordering and getting our food, it was worth it. Hopefully the crowds will die down in the future, making it a lot less of a wait.

Rabbit's OK felix. That's the original name for the dish. They called it rabbit because meat wasn't available. Oh, and I love it. The best I've ever had used to be served at the long-gone Charleston (West Virginia) Press Club. Their version (and now mine) was served over toast points topped with a couple of rashers of bacon and tomato slices.

I'm hoping to stop somewhere on my way home from work for food and football, but probably will just end up going home for leftovers. I'm doing an exhibition college basketball game for hurricane relief, so by the time it's over I'll probably be done with people.

Indeed.  Nowadays pork has a much better reputation and only horrible people eat those cute little baby cows.

A sentiment with which I wholeheartedly agree, BTW.  Let 'em grow up to become beef and THEN put their parts on my plate.

I'll take veal any time I can get it. I love those baby cow parts.

Moat meat we eat is "baby" or at best very young. America eats lamb, not mutton, beef is about a year old...chickens are young..the old birds become soup chickens...Baby cow veal is terribly young, three months old or less!

I found a new love, and it's only about 10-minute drive from my house! Sheshco Mediterranean Grill. This is, hands down, the best Mediterranean restaurant I've been to in at least 15 years. They sent me home with about $10 in extra bread and garlic sauce at no charge, and must have refilled my tea a half-dozen times (Yemeni tea with local wildflower honey). I got the lamb combo platter (1 each kibbeh, kafta, and shawarma) with grilled vegetables, and the best crushed lentil soup I've ever had the great good fortune to put in my mouth.

I took a picture. I apparently moved while doing so, as it was so blurry if I hadn't known what it was I couldn't have told by looking at it. So be it... I'll definitely be back!

It's cold, and it will not stop raining! So... five cheese cauliflower and bacon soup. Because I can.

Show catering was goofy tonight. Half vegan, a number of dishes off limits to local crew, no salad bar (but pre-made and already dressed Caesar salad). I had some delightful crab and brie mac & cheese, though, and some spaghetti with chili-garlic butter. And what was probably the blandest apple-cherry crisp on the planet... I suspect it was also vegan. Meh... It was not only free food, they were paying me to eat it.

We had prosciutto and cheese tortelloni in a cream sauce with fresh chopped tomato, fresh thyme and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.  Delicious!

I'd say you're definitely getting ready for winter!

RBM, that pork stew looks good but it's obvious you like carrots more than I do.  What cut(s) did you use?
