SNOWING!

SMOKIES!

That omelette is NOT overcooked!  Looks perfect to me.

Now you need to make potato latkes!

Just finished my chili.  It's been working so well for me.  Portioned and it even tastes good with a heavy dose of Cholula's.  Don't know what I'll eat when I run out.

Must leave the house and buy some eggs!

Balsamic and Dijon Glazed Ham, Cracked Out Grits Casserole, Spinach Salad with Warm Bacon Dressing, Pecan Cranberry Salad, sweet & sour red cabbage, Grands biscuits (I got lazy, whatever). Later, assuming I get out of this chair to whip cream, there will be individual brownie trifles.

Today was the day to go off the diet so I rummaged through the freezer and pantry and came up with this:

We had the kids and their families over for Christmas breakfast today so we changed things up for tonight.  The local movie house makes pretty good pizza so we reserved a table for 2, ordered a pizza, and watched the new Star Wars movie while eating an early dinner.

We had our usual Christmas day dinner of takeout Chinese. Mu Shu Pork, Garlic Beef, Lemon Chicken, Steamed Dumplings, and Beef Lo Mein for the kids. Thankfully, we have a really good Chinese place nearby.

Can anyone explain why my photo files are too large to upload? Taken straight off the iPhone.

Digital cameras take ungodly huge MB photos, so they're way over the limit for uploading directly. I just use Flickr for mine, and they're automatically resized to what works. I stopped trying to use the upload function here when I realized it would only allow you to upload one photo in any given thread... which clearly would not work for this one, among others.

Yesterday's leftovers for dinner tonight, although in hindsight the spinach salad probably should've been tossed last night. Still tasty, just limp and goofy.

We had no leftovers from last night.    But I did have 2 leftover lamb shanks.  Made some fresh mashed potatoes and that's what's on for tonight!

Last night was sukiyaki - one of a few specialties that my mom brought over from Japan.

Traditionally this is a communal dish, but we opted for individual containers this time.

Used to eat Sukiyaki in the '60s at Yamato in Century City.  Loved it.   Thanks for reminding me.  Everything about it is comfort.

I was invited to a dinner at Benihana last night.  I enjoyed it but all that salt and butter!  They put about a half stick of whipped butter onto everything they cook.  The onions get butter, the mushrooms get butter, the zuchini gets butter, the shrimp, steak.....  There was a pound of butter on each meal!

Well it was good!

Tonight's dinner was 2 Cuban beef stuffed potato balls from Porto's Bakery.  There's another one staring at me but I'm trying to ignore it.  I just know it's going to win!

Mom and I went to my sister's for Christmas tonight, and she stuffed us to the gills! Liver pate, crackers, and havarti cheese before dinner. Roast beast, roasted carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, and salad for dinner. And my niece made this frozen strawberries and cream dessert that was fabulous. And she sent home leftovers! I win.

I miss scallops! Lord, but those look good.

Tonight we finished off the leftovers from my sister's house in hopes I'd have enough room in the fridge to make food for two more parties on Sunday. We're not there yet.

By the way... Christmas dessert was individual brownie trifles.

I'm totally lost!

I had a half of a roasted vegetable salad at California Pizza Kitchen.  It's really satisfying.
