We ate more leftovers, and I was able to consolidate what was left into smaller containers so I could fit the stuff I made for tomorrow's parties in the fridge. Today I also baked two more batches of gingerbread, four loaves of pumpkin bread, made honey-cinnamon cream cheese for said pumpkin bread, made a layered Jello dessert (orange Jello with OJ concentrate, crushed pineapple, and cranberry sauce topped with a mixture of white chocolate pudding and sweetened whipped cream), and made some marinated olives and feta. I've got a family Christmas party tomorrow at noon and a NYE party tomorrow night at a friend's.

WOW, Felix..  can you stand today?  You are amazing!

I'm staying in today and not going over to my traditional dinner with Karen.  She has enough to deal with without my cold adding to it.

So, Chili is on the menu tonight.  I began it this morning and it still needs to cook down and flavors need to meld.

Mar... not so much with the standing or walking, but I still have drugs from the hospital so I managed. Your chili looks fabulous!

I'm off to the party, during which I will eat whatever is sitting out but primarily indulge in adult beverages since I'm spending the night and it's been a really bad week, capped off by finding I had a flat tire when I went to leave my stepmom's house this afternoon.

Felix, a flat tire tomorrow morning would have been a horrible way to begin the new year.  But for 2017 it's par for the course.

Happy New Year!  Enjoy!

When the kids were young we would do fondue every New Year's Eve, but the tradition had fallen by the wayside the past few years as they moved out and on with their lives.  However, a couple of days ago our older daughter suggested that since her husband was up north snowmobiling, it might be fun if she and the grandson came over and we fired up the fondue pots again.  So my dinner was made up of pieces of sirloin, shrimp, imitation crab, mushrooms, potatoes, and bread all dunked in either hot oil or cheese.  The house smells like a fryer vat this morning.

I don't understand why this site has archaic software when it comes to uploading photos. This is the only site I post on that requires a third party uploading site.

Sausage, meatball, and onion calzone from Zerio's.  A bit overdone but I said no problem.

Going to try the Facebook approach to hosting with this picture.

I started this yesterday so the flavors should be perfect today.  There's pork and cut up.... SMOKIES in it.  The Smokis don't look like I remember.  I'll find out tonight if they taste the same.

<  Facebook  Not sure how you'd use it.

For our big New Year's Day dinner we're having...chicken tacos.  We each spent over 5 hours in our respective offices today so there's no significant cooking going on tonight.

Although I would just as soon have sat in my recliner nursing what turns out to be the first hangover I've had in about 3 years (this is what happens when I know I'm sleeping on the couch but forget I'm taking blood thinners), I sucked it up and stuck with tradition. Black-eyed peas with smoked sausage, mixed greens (turnip, collards, spinach), and cheesy bacon cornbread.

Might I suggest Imgur as an image-hosting solution?  Totally free, and it's what I've been using on the Roadfood forums ever since I joined.

Anyway, tonight's dinner was... leftover calzone.

The only problem with getting yourself a giant calzone for New Year's Eve is that you have to keep chipping away at the enormous remaining chunk long after New Year's Eve.
