We had takeout BBQ from the City BBQ chain. Not bad for a chain. I had pulled pork with slaw and a side of greens and some nanner puddin'. The wife had their seasonal Lenten special of salmon. One sausage for the daughter and a pulled pork sandwich for the boy.

Bacon braised Brussels Sprouts in Maple-Balsamic Vinegar sauce (60 cents), pan seared new potatoes with onion (another 60 cents), and grill roasted beef tenderloin ($1.75). What will that $2.95 get ya at Mickey Dee's?

Oops, I forgot the wine. We spent more than all of that put together per person on a German Spatlese Riesling. Fully worth it.

Love Riesling and everything else on that plate looks wonderful.

My dinner is in the oven but it began like this:

$1.99 for 6 peppers
$2.99 for a pound of ground beef
99¢ for each of the cheeses
and minimal other ingredients like onions, celery, canned corn and tomato sauce.

Isn't being able to cook a wonderful thing Marlene? You eat better food for less than anyone will make it for you.

This meal didn't need the potato but they were beginning to sprout.

I've been cooking more since going to The 99¢ Only Store which is only in California, Nevada, Arizona and Texas.

Everything in the store ends with 99¢ or in the case of cans and smaller items 9¢.

It's Monday and I just got done doing a show... must be red beans & rice night! I'm cheating and starting with a box of Zatarain's, but whatever. I added good sausage, a can of red beans, and some more stuff.

Made a beef stew with mixed fresh mushrooms, rainbow chard and rainbow carrots. Turned out very good and was very umami rich.

That salad would make me really happy Mar. I love jalapenos and artichoke hearts on my salads. I would have to leave the corn out as I'm doing the Keto diet now.

For my St. Patrick's Day dinner I had... Subway. In the control booth at the arena while getting the LED boards ready for tonight's game. But this... this was outside the door. Thankfully, I was not there. And even more thankfully, a friend let me use his parking card to get into the lot!

Lee,  I used a pre-made McCormick's sauce.  Sesame Stir-Fry.  BUT, I sure didn't use all that they thought I needed.  Have enough left to do it again!

Might have avocado toast on English Muffins again tonight.

The pasta dish and the stir fry look great. Tonight my Daughter and I ate our local JB's Hot Link restaurant. She had a burger and fries and I had a half dozen hot links.

Did you get some new dinnerware, Mar?  I don't recall seeing that plate before (which means you probably used it just a couple of pages back).

Chuck eye steaks, baked potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms for us.  We were supposed to have corned beef but Mrs. C forgot to put it in the slow cooker yesterday morning...I've since contacted Cordell & Cordell to explore my options.

Good eye, Brad..  Yes, I just bought a dozen of these discontinued plates.  They're stoneware and I love the design.  My red striped dinner plates are heavy and I think they can chip.  It hasn't happened yet but after received so many of them in pieces when I ordered them I figure chipping will happen.

I love plates.  I gave away a set off 12 Wedgewood Midwinter Blue that I bought 31 years ago to make room for these.  My kitchen storage areas are real limited.

Anyone need a set of Mikasa Arabella?  I have Mom's set of twelve.  They're a huge plates, very pretty but not my colors.  I'm a dish snob who usually uses Corelle pie plates for my own dinners.
