Last night I had a split, grilled Tony Packo's Hungarian hot dog with Bertman's Original Ball Park mustard, chopped raw onions and Tony Packo's hot dog sauce on a Pepperidge Farms potato bun.

Last night I ate at Babe's Barbecue & Grill in Rancho Mirage.  It was started by Don Callendar of Marie Callendar's fame.
I had a combo plate and asked them to substitute the St. Louis ribs with baby backs.  The other meat they called Texas Tri-tip  (No such thing!)

Everything was outstanding.

That looks fabulous, mar! I haven't had ribs in ages. Of course now I also want steak, or hot dogs. Mostly I want food that was made on purpose.

Tonight we had a meal I like to call "I have to cook a huge meal this weekend so we're eating all the things to make room". Baby spinach with homemade dressing, sesame celery salad, chicken cordon bleu (the frozen breaded ones), the last of the chai spice sugar cookie and chocolate chip cookies, and later there is seedless watermelon for snacking.

I love good ribs.  There was so much food on that plate!  I ate the tri-tip and one rib last night.  Brought the rest home and just finished it.  Used to be I'd never bring home leftovers.  But this was almost a half a rack!

I've changed my ways!

Felix, was your watermelon good?  By the way...  A very happy belated birthday!

Had dinner at the WHAT THE HELL Bar & Grill.
http://whatthehellbar.com/menu/
Look up the definition of a Dive Bar and there it is.
It may bed a dive but the foods made in heaven!
Friday is all you can eat fish fry night but I wasn't that hungry so I went with a 1/2 order of What The Hell Fries and a basket of their home-made from scratch Pub Chips that I split with my bride. Could not finish either of them. The bride had Fried Shrimp. The crowd is a mixed bag - Blue Hair Snow Bird, Blue collar types "Normal" folks and Bikers. A mixed bag of patrons. Live music almost every night as well. Just a Kick Ass Place with a large menu.

Thanks, mar! The watermelon was not good. I know better than to buy it in April, but it had been so long I couldn't resist.

Easter dinner! Marinated roast leg of lamb, rainbow chopped salad with orange-oregano dressing, chow chow deviled eggs, cheesy baked asparagus, and copycat cheddar bay biscuits. Also pineapple-apricot bread pudding, which just came out of the oven and we'll dig into it later on.

Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate.

I'm home from Rancho Mirage and drove through McDonald's when I got off of the freeway.  What I ate doesn't matter.

Sometimes I win big time. The pineapple-apricot bread pudding is one of those times. I cheated and used cool whip instead of making whipped cream because there was a tub in the freezer from Christmas. Whatever.

Took myself to my favourite Sushi place (which still doesn't have a website). First plate was a mango roll (mango, avocado, cream cheese) and a kamikaze roll (spicy tuna over spicy tuna). Second plate was a Michigan roll (crab, cucumber, topped with salmon, avocado, and eel sauce) and a Yummi Yummi roll (crab, avocado, cucumber, topped with shrimp tempura and eel sauce). Normally four rolls would be too much, but it was my only meal today.

Beautiful, Felix!  Love sushi!

I was starving.  I hadn't eaten all day, helping my friend, Karen with her problems and visiting my ortho-doc for a major shot in the neck.

On the way home my eyes were bigger than my appetite which was already huge when I ordered...

From Linzini's near Marina del Rey...   an extra large, 18 inch Supreme pizza.  It was perfect for the way I was feeling.  I ate 2 slices.  I imagined eating five!

That's dinner tonight!

Pizza would be good! Instead, I was a horrible person and had 1/2 pound of double dark chocolate fudge from Kilwins that I bought yesterday on my way back from sushi. It was amazing, but I clearly could have made a better choice.

I did better today. Deluxe wet burrito from Adobe In & Out. I needed comfort food after a day spent running errands that took 400x longer than it should have for what I actually accomplished.

For contrast: a Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell that I had a few nights ago.  Also comfort food, for some.

Throw some of their hot sauce on that and I'm right there with you. That's my go to TB order on my rare visits to their establishment. Wish they'd put green onions back on them, like they used to have.

Next up, ham salad, then split pea soup!!

They went back to how they used to do them? Excellent! I haven't ordered one in a couple of years because they started cutting them in 6 pieces and changed how they did the toppings and they were awful. But perhaps I'll get one next time, since they were always my favourite.

I went to my bar after work, and all this talk of varying pizzas ended with GRPD (Grand Rapids Pizza Delivery) stopping by like they do on weekends with stuff on a truck. I got a pepperoni and bacon, washed down with some Bell's Brewery Two-Hearted Ale.

Did you steam the brussels sprouts first?  If so it must've been warm enough in Grand Rapids to open the kitchen windows.

Ha! I totally cheated. They're one of those frozen Green Giant microwave boxes. But yes it was!

Today was one of those days I'm really glad I keep snacks in my work bag. Didn't have enough time to go anywhere to eat because downtown is busy, also didn't get fed catering. So I've been grazing all evening on various granola bars, fruit snacks, and pudding cups.
