Mar, my heart breaks for you. I can't imagine losing my babies in such a short time frame. Nothing will ever make up for your loss. My thoughts are with you.

Took the kids out to our local Ramen and Izakaya place for some noodles. I had the Garlic Tonkatsu Shiyo Ramen with pork belly and char sui pork. Good stuff!

YUM! I love that Ramen. I get basically the same Tonkatsu Ramen bowl here in Dallas.
Addictive!

Could be the same place, since Kizuki is a chain operation. For chain ramen they do a really good job and they don't skimp on the quality.

Not the same. The ramen restaurant I go to here in Dallas is named Ichiro Ramen and is a
"one off". Check out the pictures of their food.........

Last night I had frozen plain flavored, frozen yogurt from Yogurtland.  I topped it with Chamoy sauce and chopped almonds.

I've lost 18 pounds.  Fifteen more to get to where I should have begun.

A bit ago the guy went to the date farm near his house, and in the corniest thing anyone has ever done sent me a huge box of them along with the line, "Since I can't take you on a date..." This is us.   So today I made parmesan-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates for lunch, because I can, and they were fantastic! And then for dinner I did shrimp and Udon noodles in white wine and garlic cream sauce. Now I'm fat and happy and I can't move out of this recliner.

He's in Vegas... went to the China Ranch farm, apparently. He said it was nearby, but looking at the map I suspect his perspective is different from mine. It's like a two-hour drive!

Yesterday it was nearly 60 degrees and we had a delightful thunderstorm. Today it is 30 degrees and threatening snow with wind that just won't quit. So I made tomato-basil soup and overstuffed grilled cheese sandwiches.

After discovering the pork chops I started in the crock pot this morning were still raw because apparently it no longer cooks on low, I threw a couple of those stupid frozen breaded stuffed chicken breasts in the oven, managed to salvage the steamed asparagus I'd planned, and luckily had just bought cottage cheese. And now I'll be shopping for a new crock pot, which luckily should be on sale since it's Christmas. Ugh.

Wishing you a Crockpot for Christmas.  That's a kitchen appliance that can either be very affordable or you need to mortgage your house, when they both do slow cooking with one doing a bit more or having a "different" name.

The full feeling from the fusilli has not kicked in.

Lisa, that's just beautiful and I know delicious.  I just can't eat it.... yet.

I thinned down jarred marinara (If you can believe it) and added capers, roasted red peppers and more garlic.

Very satisfying after 2 months of eating eggs, yogurt and some sushi.

I wanted a HOT meal!

Problem is the cream.  If I buy it, I'm doomed!

Mar, when my granddaughter gets off the school bus with 3 or 4 other girls and says "Gramma, we are so hungry.  Please, please make us something to eat, I do the same thing.  I put water on for penne pasta, get out a jar of sauce (and some frozen meatballs if I have any on hand) and in 20 minutes, I have a nice hot "snack" for them!  That is why all her friends want to come here and do homework together.

Made red beans and rice with Kiolbassa Beef sausages. Of course, I used Camellia Red BEans and the dish turned out perfect, as usual. Only had some Indian basmati rice, but it worked really well. Much better than the regular stuff so many folks use, (myself included).

Greymo,  I'd be on the bus with them!  It really wasn't bad and was very satisfying.

Today I went out to lunch with my niece, Carrie and 8 month old great nephew... Luca!    We had plans to go to Killer Cafe but when we crossed the street my niece said....  Isn't Sugarfish in that shopping center?  I said yes.  I'd never been.  It's a sushi restaurant and not one I could go to by myself.  She said she had a gift card from one of her husband's clients.  So that's where we went.

I let Carrie order for both of us.  The sushi was delicious.  She chose halibut, salmon, tuna in ponzu sauce, blue crab and rolls, some other rolls, oysters from Washington and...    UNI!   As far as I knew I did not like uni.  It looked like a tongue looking back at me.  Carrie told me to try a tiny bit on the end of the chopstick.  Hmmm...  I didn't hate it.  Tried a tiny bigger bit.  Not bad.  Plopped the entire thing in my mouth..,. Yummmmmmm!

Lisa, you were right!  Custardy, sweet and a very different flavor.

I found out another reason I've never been to Sugarfish.  The gift card she had just covered the bill.  You don't tip at Sugarfish  16% is automatically added to the bill.  She got $2 back from the $100 gift card!

Glad you liked the uni!  I attacked it the same way the first time.  Haven't had it in a long time......maybe I need to get to a sushi place soon.  But with the cold weather we're having soup or stew seems more appropriate!
