Lee, it was the picture of the Kale Soup from the Liberal Club

Brad..  it got all the way down to the 50s!

I think that was one of the best soups I've ever made.  I even had a second bowl.

I love soup!

Me too. Remember the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld...a soup restaurant. That was a real place. Never went, but the thought is heaven. Love soups...and we make soup dinners often, especially in winter, but hell anytime is great. Give me a hearty soup, some crusty Italian bread, and I'm in heaven!!

I'm with you on that.  LOVE soup!

We had a short lived soup restaurant in Inglewood that I used to go in the 80s.  A small place with I think six types of soup which changed daily.  I'd go there at least once a week but I guess there wasn't enough of us going and it didn't last long.

What I learned there when I went 2 days in a row was... first day 2 of the choices were split pea and garden vegetable.  The second day the special soup was a mixture of those two.  I forget what he named it but his not selling out was problem his undoing.

I worked in a shipyard in the 90's and a local homeless shelter would show up daily with a van full of pre packed styro-foam 24 oz. cups of the best soup I ever had other than my Grandma's.  It was 3 bucks with crackers or bread and our lunch trailer was always quiet other than the slurps. I might make some Chicken and Noodles for the week.

Now you've all got me wanting soup again! Just need to decide if I can justify making more or if I should just take some out of the freezer... I've got about 5 kinds in there right now.

I need a bigger freezer!

I just got done cleaning my stove.  Who designs a stove where the drip area isn't removable?  When I cook things jump out of my pots and pans and sometimes never even make it into them.  What a pain!!!

Tonight I think I'll use the toaster oven and the microwave!

I think you need anti-jump pots and pans to ease your pain.

My brother came up from KY to visit so we went out for dinner. We were looking forward to Portillo's but the lines were too bloody long and no guarantee of even getting a seat, so we went to the nearby Main Street Poké. There are two locations of them (one in Carmel, IN and one in Fishers, IN. We were right by the Fishers location so that was our destination. We eat there reasonably frequently, (what can I say, we like marinated raw tuna and salmon). It was a first for my brother and he wasn't sure how he'd feel about raw fish. Amazingly he really liked it. I had my usual bowl. Good stuff!

Tonight I made what I lovingly refer to as "Pantry Stew". It's what I make when I'm lazy, since all I have to do is open a bunch of cans of stuff and throw them together with whatever seasonings catch my eye.

Tonight's version had 1 (15 oz.) can each red beans, black beans, pinto beans, and cannelini beans (all rinsed and drained), 1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes (undrained), 1 (12.5 oz.) can shredded chicken (drained), about 1/3 cup BBQ sauce, 1 teaspoon mild smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon garlic, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, and some garlic pepper sauce.

Soft tacos are better! They don't break and make you lose all your stuff on your plate.

But now you have to answer the next question: corn or flour tortillas?

We often have tacos on Monday nights (because "Taco Monday" has a catchy ring to it), usually with hard corn shells and flour tortillas.  This past Monday's leftover meat will probably be my bachelor dinner tonight.

Last night was chuck eye steaks in the iron skillet (with butter and olive oil), mushrooms sauteed in the drippings, peas and onion rings.

Currently I'm in my new road trip in UK. I'm driving through Scotland's North Coast. My wife prepared a lot of homemade food for me, she ordered special food containers here  So for dinner today I'll have noodles with pickled vegetables and chicken and some chocolate cake for a desert. Not so bad for those who are far from home.

You're welcome, and thank you! Pantry Stew is quick, easy, fairly economical, and never the same twice. It's not even remotely healthy, but you can't have it all.

The only way to get corn tortillas around here is if someone makes them, so I definitely prefer them! However, more often I end up with flour since I can buy them anywhere.

Sometimes it's Friday and your week has gone to hell without stopping for a handbasket, concluding in the chicken you got out of the freezer for dinner being spoiled, so you just give up and order pizza. And then, to cap it, you find out your favourite local pizza parlour has closed, so you may have Pizza Hut as they are the only ones who deliver to your house. I'm taking an Uber to the bar tonight. Done.

Not bad.

Tri-tip London Broil tonight and lasagna tomorrow night.  We make our lasagna with whatever noodles are cheapest, cottage cheese, ground beef, ketchup, and American cheese singles and green can parmesan on the top.

The BPT looks good.  You dried out yet, Groucho?

Bpt was very good. The street in the picture is passable. Lots of mud and a dead body , I don't make this stuff up. The body was stuck in the neighbors fence.
We have to wait and see If Fema will let the residents rebuild.

You... what?

Tonight I needed to use up some produce that was BOGO last week, so I made a Greek-ish salad with cucumber, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives, and feta, dressed with extra-virgin olive oil, lemon juice, and fresh dill. Then I rubbed some Greek seasoning with feta on some chicken (the breasts were HUGE, so we split one) and pan-seared it. And since we needed another thing, forgettable frozen vegetable blend.
