Yesterday I picked up some beef ribs marked "use today or freeze" from the bargain cooler at one of the local stores, so right now they're cooking away on the Weber kettle.  No smoke this time, just charcoal.

How'd those turn out? Were they back ribs or short ribs?

Pretty good, although with the lack of smoke they tasted more like roast beef since I used only salt and pepper for seasoning.  They were back ribs but not particularly large, and took about 1:45 at around 350 degrees.

Dinner was a store-bought frozen "Detroit-style" pizza. It was edible. Fortunately, neither one of us was hungry. That's because real dinner was served at 3:30 this afternoon. I did some lobster ravioli in a browned butter and sage sauce. It was really good.

The nice thing about Mom having Alzheimer's is I can serve the same dinner two nights in a row and she doesn't know it.  Leftover chicken pot pie and bread tonight!

Felix!!!    (snicker)

I had heat and serve barbecued pork ribs and heat and serve mashed potatoes.

If you remember, I've been to Costco.  Should have bought a camera.  Phone is on the fritz again.

We all came home late tonight so we ate store bought Italian subs, I'll be home early enough tonight to make penne with vodka sauce.

Tonight I'm making an old family recipe handed down from my dad.

Chef Boy-ar-dee pizza with canned mushrooms and Hormel pepperoni.

Although I've adopted the Philly method of putting the cheese directly on the crust and then finishing with the sauce and toppings.  And probably a little more cheese.

You can still buy Chef Boy-ar-dee pizza??? Now I must have one. Ours was exactly the same as yours, except for reasons unknown we always used that "Parmesan cheese" in a can.

Tonight I had a cranberry bagel with cream cheese and some strawberry shortcake Greek yogurt. And a great deal of vodka... it's been a day.

lleechef wasn't feeling well and didn't want anything for dinner. I microwaved a hot dog for myself before hitting the sack. Don't microwave a good hot dog. Better yet, don't microwave any hotdog.

Yes, I think it's still widely available although the only thing that really matters is that I can still find it.

The sauce still comes in a little can but the grated cheese topping now comes in a packet instead.

I suspect there's a story here, mar. Hope it wasn't too hard to choke down!

Tonight I served grocery store deli dinner. Cold chicken leg quarters, bacon ranch pasta salad, and broccoli salad.

At dinner at a chain restaurant last night.  Mastro's Steakhouse in Rancho Mirage.  I don't know.  Fancy, expensive steakhouses just don't do it for me.  I find the steaks at Texas Roadhouse as good or even better.  There were 7 of us, steaks were shared along with shrimp cocktails and many side dishes.  I was a guest.  They ordered bottles of wine which I don't do because they're a waste on me but some of us ordered cocktails.

That's where this is the best restaurant in the world!  I ordered a Lemon Drop.  It was OMG good!  I've never had one so good.  I'm hoping I'm able to post the link here.  I'm also hoping I can go there and just sit at the bar.

Maybe those of you with Facebook can figure out how to post the short video.

After three days along with the three months, my power at my condo there is finally on.  Seems that there is a place in Palm Springs with the same exact address as mine except that I'm in Rancho Mirage and no one paid attention to the zip code!  It wasn't a pleasant 3 days except for the lemon drop!

For last night's repast lleechef prepared beans and greens -- broccoli rabe and cannellini beans. the blanched rabe was sautéed in olive oil with garlic and red pepper flakes, and the beans. With the beans and greens we had freshly made (not by us) hot Italian sausage.

This may sound silly, but the only times I've ever had escarole has been in wedding soup.

I'm sure you'd love it with the beans, cannelini beans and oil and garlic. That's it. Many Italian restaurants often have it on the menu.

Ewww...some real tamales would've been much, much better!

Mrs. C is fighting a cold so I made a grilled cheese sandwich for her while I had egg-in-toast.

Hmmm...now Mexican food is sounding good for dinner tonight.
