I voted for the Chicken.. Just something I grew up with. I love chicken, the flavor, veggies, or however one makes it (such as with noodles).. All good to me!

Italian wedding soup, hands down. Especially here in this area, close to Pittsburgh. Little meatballs, chicken, greens, pasta, good, rich chicken broth--how can you go wrong? I make my own. Will be glad to share the recipe.

Oh, yeah, want to snag that Italian Wedding.

Reminds me something of an Escarole soup with tiny meatballs I used to get in downtown Boston.

Of the soups I now make, favorite is Portuguese Kale soup, with linguica or chorico sausage.

I totally agree. The tomato soup does not even need to be home made although it is the best. If I cannot make it, I just grab a can of Campbell's.

My favorite is which ever one I'm eating at the time. I LOVE soup! Everything from Campbell's tomato to Best Wok's hot & sour and about everything in between.Did I mention that I love soup? Some extra good ones are home made vegetable in summer with all the fresh stuff, corn & crab bisque, potato & leek, Oh, I quit. There're too many.

I'm a big time soup person.. I picked chicken (but I would equally rank a good tomato, split pea, or bean with bacon.

Our cafeteria at work can only do one thing right...chicken soup.. I don't know what they do to it, but it's the best. I generally don't care for the homemade type (Chicken with Stars all the way!).

The best tomato soup I ever had was a tomato/basil/cheddar at our now defunct Goodbody's Pub.

The soup I could die happy after eating: The butternut squash and bacon bisque at The Dining Room, Ritz Carlton, SF.

A soup I loved that I didn't think I'd like: Mushroom Tea at Upstairs Downtown here in Fresno

Best clam chowder: some little corner deli on Cannery Row in Monterey.
Runners up: Cattle Rustler's in Clovis, CA. and Mustache Pete's in Cambria, CA.

Best bean with bacon or split pea: Sorry, it's Campbells.

Best minestrone (and I don't care for minestrone): Mike's Pizzeria in Fresno.

Best soup ever according to my hubby: My Christmas potato chowder.

Best soup I think I ever made: Corn chowder.

Slammin' Clam Chowder at Iron Barley in Saint Louis! NE clam chowder with some smoked salmon added. Not store-bought smoked salmon, but salmon smoked out back by Tom, the owner and chef.

I would have to go with French onion soup with that great cheese melted on top. My second is escaroll soup. Chowder is just that I would'nt consider it a soup it's chowder. Chow Jim

For the poll, I answered Mushroom Barley, which is indeed a favorite of mine. When I was a kid, I loved bean with bacon. My Mom made a really good vegetable soup, which I didn't appreciate, unfortunately (rather have that bean with bacon from Campbells, doncha know?). A favorite for lunch, especially in cooler weather, is tomato soup with grilled cheese, dunking the sandwich in the soup. The Progresso soups are usually fairly good; I haven't tried any of the new Campbells Select label soups yet but they -sound- good. LOL I myself am not really "big" on soup, so don't make it from scratch very often. The cafeteria at my job serves Au Bon Pain soups, and there are several of them that are quite good: a wild mushroom risotto and a curry with rice. Can't think of the names, though.

Ah yes, czarnina. Some say it's to the Polish what lutefisk is to Norwegians. I tried it once when I was young and considered it "bloody" awful. Perhaps my tastebuds have matured and it's time for another attempt. Duck Blood Soup anyone? pb

What ever happened to Campbell's black bean condensed soup?

I never used it as soup, but it was a quick way to get some of my famous dips started.
I have not found this soup anywhere anymore.

    Poll answer; Tomato.

"Real" answer would have to be vegetable beef soup or oyster stew.

In answer to your ? about the Campbells Select.
I thought the butternut squash looked so good on the commercial, and a friend just happened to overhear me talking about it and she dont waste your money. It sucked.
But, all taste buds are different, and I am going to try it anyway.
