California?  A state dessert?

Hmmmm,  nothing specific but I'd put Meyer Lemon and Almonds into my creations and name it Almond Love.

I do believe that Indiana's is the Sugar Cream Pie. Don't care for it myself. Tastes floury.

Peach pie?
I lived there for five years. OK, not a lifetime but I never saw peach pie on a menu. Saw a lot of Tastykakes, though.

I used to enjoy a pear frangipane tart at Toscana in Trolley Square. Maybe that could be the state dessert. That thing made me forgive the marzipan atrocities fed me in my youth.

Illinois doesn't seem to have a designated dessert.  The official snackfood is popcorn and the official fruit is the Gold Rush Apple.

So, there.

Osaka Prefecture does not have an official dessert. I nominate bûche de Noël. (Christmas / seasonal.)

Nor does Wisconsin. My nominations for an official Wisconsin state dessert are cherry cobbler because cherry cobbler with cherries from Door County is the traditional dessert for the fish boil and Lenten fish fry; figgyhobbin because Wisconsin nickname Badger State derived from the early nineteenth century Cornish miners and fry bread from the indigenous peoples.

Wisconsin: cherry cobbler.
Cornish: figgyhobbin.
Potawatomi, Menomonee, Ojibwe, Oneida, Ho-Chunk: fry bread with honey.

My runners-up:

Hmong: pandan custard bun.
African-American: sweet potato pie.
French: crêpe Suzette.
German: Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte or schaum torte.
Belgian: Liège waffle.
Polish: pączki. (Pre-Lenten / seasonal.)
Flemish: galettes Campinoises.
English: strawberries and cream.
Scottish: fried Mars bar.
Welsh: Welsh cake.
Irish: oatmeal cream.
Norwegian: fyrstekake.
Danish: kringle.
Swedish: ostkaka.
Icelandic: laufabrauð.
Finnish: berry tart.
Dutch: borstplaat.
Luxembourgish: quetschentaart.
Swiss: Bündner Nusstorte.
Czech: makovec.
Italian: cannoli.
Greek: baklava.
Mexican: dulce de leche. I am also very fond of paletas (Mexican popsicles).

If there had been an actual vote, I'd bet a trifecta: Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, oatmeal cream and pączki to win, place and show in the Wisconsin Dessert Sweepstakes.

In Landmark legislation, Illinois is poised to name Pumpkin pie as the official pie of the State of Illinois.  While ranking near last in over 100 state compared economic indicator categories, experiencing the largest per capita move out of any state in the union, double the number of municipal governments of any state, Chicago bonds 2 steps above junk - are you getting the trend here....but we will have pie!!!!

According to an unofficial website-cranberrry pie is the official dessert.May be up north, but I would have to say the cream puff...

For Wisconsin it's the the cream puff and for Illinois it's the brownie.

That's interesting because pumpkin pie is thought to have originated in the Northeast. During colonial times the colonists were the ones who invented the dessert. So I find it relatively interesting that Illinois is going to name pumpkin pie as the state dessert.

Good list and I won't quibble with your trifecta adding only that every good Wisconsin supper club offers schaum torte topped with either strawberries or raspberries, a scoop of vanilla and schlag (whipped cream, not whipped topping).

Just for the heck of it I checked Connecticut, and while it lists (Wiki) ice cream, it was the Connecticut Prepared Meal that I found most interesting. Hang on tight -- The Official Connecticut Prepared Meal, according to Wikipedia, is MYSTIC PIZZA

I know Maine is Blueberry. But I was sure that shortly after I moved here, to Wisconsin that Wisconsin's dessert was a Grasshopper....add Bailey's for a special treat.
