Here's a change of pace for this thread - A New German Restaurant!
Jerry's Old Town Inn was a supper club featuring "barbecue ribs" that went out of business. They reopened in 2014 as the Old Town Beer Hall
. The Beer Hall still offers Jerry's "famous" ribs.
I had Hofbrau Delicator tonight, which is an outstanding doppelbock. One was enough. My Kassler Rippchen was not particularly smoky, but was still tasty with red cabbage, kraut and spatzle.Pie Diva
ordered sauerbraten, which is her favorite German dish. She was disappointed with Old Town's version, it is just not in the league with Maders or Karl Ratzsch.
The Ubersohn ordered Schweinebraten, a crispy pork shoulder served with bier gravy and a bread dumpling.
We all called this the winner of the evening. The pork with the gravy was extremely good tasting and the bread dumpling much preferred to the potato dumpling served with the sauerbraten.
We will definitely be returning to the Old Town Beer Hall for their reasonably priced good tasting German offerings.
