Where should I Eat and What Should I See in Winnipeg, Canada

Next month I'll be going for the first time to Winnipeg, Canada. Does anybody have ideas for what to do and where to eat? I'll be there for a week so plenty of time to try the local cuisine-----whatever that may be. Thanks!

Ed, I have a very good friend from Winnipeg and I will call her and get her take.  She and her husband are not Roadfooders but go out to dine all the time.    I went there once and loved the Ukrainian Cultural Center.  It is very interesting and filled with history.  I am of Ukrainian descent so may  have liked it more than you would.

Thanks, Greymo! I am looking for both Roadfood and non-Roadfood experiences so anything your friend suggests would be helpful.

Here are some of the places that she likes with " foods of the region."

Her favorite nice restaurant is Fusion Grill.  The pickerel and pickerel tongue are two regional foods  (and Bison)  that she loves here.  She says you should go there for your "big night out"

There are many Ukrainians in this area so she suggests  Jessie's Kitchen amd Caise Café and Lounge for good Ukrainian food.

For a great bison burger, go to NuBurger.  You can also get good poutaine here

If you are looking for a good steak, go to Rae and Jerry's.

I may have to try some fried pickerel then.
