Totally agree about Redzone in Amelia. Food was fantastic, Every time I go the wings have been good, meaty and done very well.
Yeah, service needs help. Both times that I went I sat at the bar and service was so-so. After eating my wings and asking for a wet nap the server took some paper towel, ran it under the sink and said here you go. Getting the bill before asking if I was done or wanted another beer, plus no local craft beers and from what they said, no plans on getting any either.
I'll probably start getting it to go instead of dealing with the service there

That same article mentions the new Tim Hortons coming to Colerain where the Pizza Hut used to be, along with plans for "more than 150 Tim Hortons restaurants in the Cincinnati area over the next 10 years".

Construction on the Colerain Tim Hortons is now underway, but I fear getting in and out of that location will be tiresome due to the congestion at that intersection.

Five Boroughs Pizzeria has also recovered from their kitchen fire, and reopened a little over a week ago. They ran a "grand re-opening" special for their first week back, consisting of a 2-topping large pizza, mozzarella sticks (which I had never ordered before, and are terrible store-bought quality), and a cold 2-liter for $10. I am glad to have them back.

Speaking of Tim Hortons, its my understanding that they're building one in Erlanger on the site of the old Long John Silver's on Dixie Highway, just south of The Colonial Cottage.

Has Colonial Cottage ever been discussed elsewhere in the many pages of this thread?  I looked it up on a whim and it seems like an interesting place, especially since it's received at least one "Best Fried Chicken" award.

Speaking of Erlanger, I seem to recall drinking it on a few occasions back in the '80s...

I think of CC more as a breakfast and pie place

I don't get there often as it is out of the way for me and it is one of those "good, but not great" places

Five Boroughs Pizzeria and Dewey's Pizza are the best pizza in the area for me - closest to NY pizza.

I really need to get down there for a "proper" meal, as my only experience with them so far was grabbing a quick slice at their booth during one of the festivals. Curiously, I can't remember much about it.

I neglected to mention that we had brunch at 50 West this past Sunday, which was good, if a little overpriced and a little salty (the roasted home fries and the biscuits and gravy, anyway). The best deal on the menu is by far the half price beer flight, which gets you six samplers for $5. It's a bit of a drive for us, but it wasn't a bad diversion.

http://fiftywestbrew.com/food/sunday-brunch/

The Comet gets our Sunday brunch dollars more often than not these days, and if you haven't tried it, you should. Don't let the bar atmosphere sway you. Personal favorites are the Hot Mess (hot sauce is optional, TJ), the biscuits and gravy, and the crepe cake (which is huge). The only "miss" we've tried is the grapefruit brulee, which is basically a halved and slightly torched grapefruit dusted with chopped nuts. There just isn't much to it, and $3 is a lot to pay for one grapefruit.

And here I was thinking that grapefruit brulee was just something Alton Brown made up to fill a few minutes on an episode of Good Eats

Just amazes me how much chains a few miles apart can vary.

The Sonic Eastgate is mediocre but the one on Ohio 28 just east of I-275 makes just about the best chain fast-food burgers in the city. I just had one today for the second time in a month and it was phenomenal.

I have to say the pics of pizza I have seen from this place do not look like the styles of pizza from either of the two cities - NYC and Chicago

I do Roney's plenty.

I like them much better for roast beef though. Burgers are a little pricey, and the last one I had wasn't memorable.

Her review says as much, although she pans (no pun intended) their New York version more than their Chicago version. I'm not interested in a pizzeria that gets the decor right and the pizza wrong.

Bella Luna in Mt Lookout/East End is closing at the end of the year

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2016/11/29/bella-luna-close/94597392/

Story includes the item that the owner is trying to find a way to still sell their signature bread pudding, which I have long contended is the only reason to ever go there

That said, this place has its fans, and I find it odd that he isn't looking for a buyer for the business as a whole

Interesting...you think Terry would want to expand?

Speaking of whom, I saw Terry at JJ's Eastgate in a neck brace a couple of weeks ago. Hope he's OK.

Also, the Arabuckle Pie Co. in JJ's Eastgate has closed for good. I never saw it doing a ton of business, the location was never great to begin with and the endless construction in that area couldn't have helped.

On a more positive note: There has been much noise behind the curtain of the former cookie pizza place that was near the JJ's entrance, and a manager I know that works at the Jungle said a barbecue place is going there. Stay tuned.

I wonder if we will ever have decent pizza at Eastgate.

I don't think that location would do well with a smoker, honestly; and then there's also the factor that City BBQ (sorry to Jack specifically - but I've had good meals there) is nearby.  Not sure BBQ is the right answer for that spot.

Pizza sold by the slice - good pizza, mind you - would work, I believe

Short of an In-N-Out Burger, I don't know that there is a right answer there. This JJs does a fraction of the business of the Fairfield location and there aren't a whole lot of area businesses from which to draw weekday lunch traffic.

That store is busy enough on weekends but not enough the other five days to sustain a conjoined fast food or fast casual IMO, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

The former Tan Thai location at Anderson Towne Center next to Carrabba's is being turned into a Greek-Mediterranean joint.

I didn't write down the name, sorry

It may be the only Gyro joint on the east side - all others are west or central as far as I know.

Looking at Google it might be LEYLA Mediterranean .  I don't get over that way much anymore so I could be mistaken.

So Red Sesame, which has a really good Korean BBQ food truck, is taking that spot I mentioned above at Jungle Jim's Eastgate. There's still a curtain in front of the shop but it looks/sounds like they're fairly close.

I wish them well and will definitely support them.

J. Austin's American Eatery (formerly Riley's) in Springdale will close its doors for good on January 1st.  All 18 employees will be offered jobs at either the J. Austin's or Walt's BBQ in Hamilton or the Walt's BBQ on Colerain.

Then some private soft openings scheduled.

Walt's BBQ in Hamilton or the Walt's BBQ on Colerain.

Is Walt's any good?  My path to Lebanon next summer could take me through Hamilton if it's worth a stop.
