I like the Burger Fi in Manchester. I think the burgers and fries are (somehow) better than 5 Guys ... plus they sell BEER!!!

Well, you may call me a convert. I've now been to the BurgerFi in Manchester a number of times, and come away fully satisfied each time. Their menu is broad and thoughtful, their fries are easily better than those of any other "upscale" burger chain, their service is terrific, and their location is very well designed. I'm genuinely impressed.

This was the last burger I got from them. I went crazy with the ingredients, but they were careful in their construction of the burger and everything worked together extremely well. One patty, white cheddar, garlic aioli, bacon-tomato jam, salt and vinegar chips (yes, inside the burger), grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato.

These are their "Urban-Style" fries, tossed with grated parmesan and doused with the same garlic aioli that was on my burger. Wonderful. Unlike Five Guys' fries, these don't into a soggy, mealy disappointment after two minutes, and they're also far better than the oily shoestrings of Smashburger or the frozen crinkle-cuts of Shake Shack.

(I will say that Shake Shack's cheese sauce is better. Put that with BurgerFi's fries and you'd have a truly winning combo.)

Holy onion rings, Batman. These were every bit as good as you'd expect, and finishing them was surely an irresponsible thing for me to do.

So, yeah. Don't do what I did and let your impression of them be formed by their freaking Chicago-style hot dog. These guys know what they're doing.

Remarkably, yes, and a national one at that.  I'd never thought I'd speak so positively of such a thing, but food is always evolving, so maybe it was just a matter of time.

We tried the BurgerFi in Kennesaw GA shortly before moving to TN.  It was quite good, but we prefer Grub Burger Bar, a smaller but very similar chain.

Their only Metroplex (Dallas - Ft. Worth) location has closed.

Too much competition I guess.

This morning, however, there is one fewer long-standing (founded 1950) burger joints in Dallas.

Haven't tried them yet.Don't know if they have re-opened after the bad storms we had in San Antonio. We made national news because the city had 4 tornadoes. Fortunately we didn't have one in my town though supposedly there was one out near RandolphAFBase.

I recently passed TJ's off Interstate 70 outside Wheeling, West Virginia. I didn't stop. I think it's a chain.

One of Atlanta's BurgerFi locations closed last week:

I figured this one was toast a while ago.  It was in the same complex as The General Muir, one of the most celebrated restaurants to open in Atlanta in the last decade, and whose burger is frankly astonishing, among the best on the planet.  They didn't stand a chance.
